The House and Location
Our family lives in the metropolitan Boston area. What we wanted in our Vieques vacation home was a completely different scene from the world of the city, the crowded, noisy, fast paced environment, (which we also love, for different reasons).
This house is close to nature, peach and lavender sunsets emblazen over the blueish Caribbean.
Located on the less populated southern shores of the island. Sea and sky, rolling hills, strolling livestock, meadows, and pastureland. Privacy, quiet, and calm, away from ambient lighting. Pull up the deck chairs, spot the Milky Way and planets, and count shooting stars ( we counted 13 one night!)
Relax comfortably, while surrounded by lush tropical greenery, away from noisy neighbors, and pick mangos and limóns right from the balcony,(mangos are ripe in July).
Two miles to funky Esperanza with it's shops, bars, the dive shop, kayak rentals and more . Short drive ( about 8 minutes) to the beauteous mile-long, palm shaded Sun Bay beach.
Its a secluded, light- filled, 8 acre hideaway, nestled in gently sloping hills with views of the Caribbean, bio bay and the island off Esperanza. At about 400 feet above sea level, enjoy the cooling embrace of trade winds, (no a/c). The house is surrounded by tropical plants and flowers, and is very quiet.. contented horses and cattle graze nearby.
The Great Room is about 20 x 20 feet with its vaulted, wood-beamed ceilings, a nice acoustic shell for listening to music. Pour a cocktail, crank the boombox, push back the furniture, and dance with friends on the white tile floor. The open kitchen/dining area, accommodates cooks and kibitzers alike. The kitchen is well stocked with all the tools needed to turn out fabulous meals. Lots of window glass,it's just right for reading, for playing cards, or doing a puzzle. The interior is all white, the furniture.. rattan, the paintings.. original water colors of the Island.Come..stay

A Typical Day
Start your mornings with a sunrise walk down our road to the main road- its about 1/2 a mile, and more interesting than any stair master! After breakfast on the patio, head into Esperanza for shopping or just read, or off to snorkel, swim, and tan at Sun Bay, Media luna, or Green Beach. Nap a little--whatever. Later in the afternoon there’s the sunset, almost always colorful! ...After dinner, put on a CD, turn out the lights , pull up the lounge chairs on the patio. As the tree frogs start their symphony gradually drift off to sleep. ... so ends another day in Paradise!
