Property Information |

You came in search of history and discovered your dreams lying on the
golden sand outside your door. Clear blue skies, an emerald sea and the
scent of jasmine softly mingle with salt-tinged air. Relax, recharge and
don’t feel guilty because within easy driving distances are all the cultural
attractions you were set on seeing.
Sabbia is a non-smoking cottage on a sandy Sicilian beach with idyllic sea
views. Gallina Beach is used only by locals and mostly from July through
August. A huge, furnished rooftop deck with a barbecue and an outdoor
shower gives one the sensation of being on a boat. A stairway leads from
the deck down to the beach.
Sabbia’s stone walls and minimal decor play second fiddle to the views,
seen from everywhere except the bedroom with two single beds. An air
conditioning unit in the hall keeps both bedrooms and the living room
cool. The living room and the bedroom with two single beds have window
screens. A small kitchen corner with a US-style coffee maker and a
toaster is smartly hidden in an armoire. Maid service may be arranged
when booking.
Within a mile is a tiny village with a restaurant. Avola, just over a mile
away, offers a supermarket, restaurants and local trains to Siracusa. Nero
d’Avola, the local red wine is noted in both Wine Spectator and Wine
Enthusiast.
Baroque Noto is within a 10 minute drive. The Vendicari Reserve with its
walking paths through semi-tropical flora, bird sanctuaries and unspoiled
beaches lies 30 minutes away; Siracusa and Ortigia: 20; Palazzolo
Acreide: 45; Ragusa: 80; Catania; 60; Taormina: 90; Agrigento or
Palermo: three hours.
