DESCRIPTION: Maine is called "Vacationland" - it's even printed on the license plates! Mt. Desert Island, home of Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park is an incredibly beautiful place where people come to relax, to play and to appreciate all that nature has to offer.
"Acadia Retreat" has been created so that you and your family can stay in a wonderful & comfortable environment while you explore & experience all the beauty that surrounds you!
Our charming 9 year old home is beautifully maintained and lovingly appointed with great attention to detail. The furnishings as well as the decor are tasteful and appealing!
We have a bright, open floor plan where the living room, dining area & kitchen share one big space. The kitchen has an abundance of cabinets and counter space. The laundry area is located off the kitchen and has a full-sized washer and dryer. The dining area has a handsome round oak table and chairs. The living room has good seating capacity and a TV with VCR and DVD players.
The sunny bedrooms are located on opposite ends of the home for maximum privacy. The master bedroom with a queen size bed has a private bath, walk-in closet and TV. The second bedroom with twin beds has two closets and the main bath is located right outside the door. The third sleeping area is our NEW 24X14 Sunroom & that has a queen sofa sleeper. Both baths offer spotlessly clean tub/shower combinations. The heating system is very efficient and ceiling fans are installed for extra comfort in warmer weather.
The home has been freshly painted bright white and accented with attractive and colorful furnishings and collectibles. IT'S JUST FUN AND INVITING!
Outside you will have a beautiful yard with exquisite trees and wildflowers and perhaps a bunny or two to make you smile! You can just relax in the hammock with a book, send the kids on a treasure hunt in the surrounding woods, cook some lobsters and have a picnic or even shoot some hoops!
IT IS TRULY A GREAT VACATION SETTING!
AREA: "Acadia Retreat" is located 2 miles from the bridge onto Mt. Desert Island and 9 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. The Visitor's Center at the entrance to Acadia National Park is 10 minutes away. The Island Explorer which provides bus service to downtown Bar Harbor, other Island towns and Acadia National Park, stops just up the road. Ellsworth which is 10 miles away has more movie theaters, restaurants and shopping and don't forget the L.L. Bean outlet store, Marden's and Reny's which are all located on High Street! THEY HAVE "WICKED GOOD" STUFF!

INTERNET SERVICE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Phones, answering machine, 2 clock radios, 3 TVs, 2 DVD & 2 VCR players, cable TV, cards, games, puzzles, books & magazines. Outdoor furniture, hammock, gas grill, separate lobster/clam/corn cooker (also gas) & all the necessary cooking/eating utensils! All linens are provided including beautiful quilts & shams, extra pillows & blankets and even towels for the beach. Supplies include all paper & soap products, flour, sugar, baking supplies, spices & teas! YOU WILL FEEL VERY PAMPERED AT "ACADIA RETREAT!"
Property Activities
The beach at Hadley Point is a public area (3 miles away) where you can launch a boat, have picnics, sunbathe, skip rocks and watch for seals and other wildlife. This is a favorite spot for the kayak rental companies to start & end their day trips-it's fun to watch them come & go-and you might want to join them!
There are also several freshwater ponds/lakes on the Island where you can swim or go boating and/or fishing.
You can swim, boat, hike & ride bikes on your own or go out on a whale-watching tour or a sunset cruise on Frenchman's Bay or participate in an endless list of activities/programs that are offered by Acadia National Park! DEFINITELY see the movie at the Visitor's Center!
There are fantastic restaurants, great shopping and even mini golf courses nearby. There is an awesome "Art Deco" movie theater located in downtown Bar Harbor and twice a week there are band concerts on the Village Green. Several art shows are held during the summer and cruise ships come into the harbor weekly! IT'S AN AWESOME PLACE!
