Lounge Away your Stress on our White Sand Beach.

The home includes beach rights on private Neptune Park Beach which is a lovely white sand beach on Long Island Sound. From that beach you can look out on the open water and see sailboats, ferries, commercial shipping, fishing boats, an occasional submarine or tall ship, 2 lighthouses, and Long Island in the distance. You can also launch a canoe or kayak there. The beach has three distinct sections separated by rocks. One has a diving and sunning platform, another is a small cove, and the third is an open expanse of white sand. Sitting on that part of the beach, you can almost feel like you are in the Caribbean!

September is the best time at the beach, crowds are gone and the water is still warm. In the fall, winter and spring, take beach walks on the board walk. Or, enjoy a casino weekend or Thanksgiving and Christmas away from the city noise.

The Kids Won't Be Bored Here, and Neither Will You.

They can play volley ball, miniature golf or video games at Ocean Beach Park which is just 1 block away. The park also includes a public beach, restaurant, health club, a bar with waterfront deck, ice cream stand, gift shop, nature area, boardwalk, concerts and an outdoor swimming pool. Or visit an 1839 fort at Fort Trumbull State Park which is just 5 minutes away. Name entertainers perform on the waterfront at nearby Harkness Memorial Park's season long open air Summer Music festival. Next door to Harkness, you can experience live theater at the Eugene O'Neill Theater. Both are about 10 minutes away.

In 30 minutes or less you can be at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Foxwoods Casino, Mystic Seaport (tour old whaling town and authentic ships), Mystic Aquarium, the U. S. Navy's Submarine Force Museum (tour a real nuclear submarine and simulators), the U. S. Coast Guard Academy, as well as the many fine restaurants. Or see a baseball game with the Norwich Navigators, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. There are also vineyards located north of Norwich. And you can take a fishing or sail boat cruise.

Tour Mansions of the Golden Era or go Yachting

Tour the grand old mansions of the Gilded Era (circa the Vanderbilts and the Astors) in Newport, RI, which is an hour away. Or experience the yachting lifestyle at America's Cup Charters. Their Twelves all raced for yachting's most coveted prize, and three actually won the America's Cup. Participation is welcomed but not required! Get involved in the sailing or just sit back and enjoy the sunset on picturesque Narragansett Bay.

Boston and New York City are a few hours away

New London is a stop on Amtrak's new Acela high speed train line that runs from Washington to Boston. The trip is about 2.5 hours from New London to Penn Station in New York City. There is also access via Interstate Highway 95 and via ferry to Long Island or New York City. The drive to New York City is about 3 hours via 95, or 1 ˝ from Long Island by ferry. Testimonials

10/29/06
We appreciated your clean, warm, attractively decorated house --- large enough for our big family! The great grandchildren had fun at the beach and the Mystic Aquarium and playing games. It was so very special being with our precious family. Thank you for this opportunity.

11/27/06
All eight of us had a wonderful Thanksgiving in your lovely home. The days were warm and beautiful and the house was warm and happy. Thank you for allowing our family to have a glorious reunion and give thanks for our many blessings.

12/1/06
We really enjoyed our week-end in this lovely home. We came here to celebrate my 70th birthday with our children, their spouses and our grandchildren (13 of us).

The weather has been very warm for December so we spent much time outdoors. On Saturday we drove into New London to welcome Santa who came to town on a tugboat. The following day we went ice skating on the Conn. College ice rink and then came back to a lovely birthday dinner. The holiday decorations certainly added a great touch! Thank you for opening your home to us.

5/2/2007 Coast Guard Hero Award Recipient
Thank you so very much for opening up your home to us. Family members and friends came to New London from across the country. Our father, Don S. Bellis, USCG Academy class of '56, was inducted into the Academy's Hall of Heroes “Wall of Gallantry”. This weekend was a very special time to hear stories of his career and to share memories.

Those of us who stayed for the rest of the week took the opportunity to visit Plymouth, Cape Cod, Mystic Harbor, Newport and Foxwood Casino.

Thanks once again and God's peace.

6/4/07 Mother of the Groom and Family

Our family arrived from all over the country to celebrate the marriage of our son. Coincidently we were able to attend our son's graduation from the Submarine Officers Advanced Course in Groton, CT. As well as celebrate our parents 59th wedding anniversary.

We had the rehearsal party here and the wedding was at the Branford Mansion in Groton on Avery Point.

We visited Mystic as well as Newport and enjoyed the beautiful beaches down the street.

Our weather was beautiful except for rain on the last day.

Thank you for this lovely, well-stocked home.

Searching for a place to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday was a bit of “fear of the unknown “… on the Internet. We took a ride and decided this was the perfect place for our family's gathering. You have thought of everything to accommodate a charming vacation treat. It is wonderful to share the gift of time together and this was just perfect with all the comforts of home – We love the sugar sand beaches and the clear “rockless” water, our walks were delightful. Thank you.

8/11/07 Return guest
We gathered together our family - Mom and Dad (Nana and Granddad), 3 siblings and spouses, 4 grandkids - for a week of fun and relaxation. This is our 2nd annual trip to 35 Neptune. We enjoyed it just as much as we did last time! The beach is fabulous. Walking distance, nice sand, private and uncrowded, floating dock ... lots of fun! It's super that we can all stay here together, and eat together too. Thanks for such a well-stocked, comfortable, clean place.

8/17/07 Quilt Lover
The accommodations were just great and “homey”. You seem to have provided most everything we needed. We had perfect weather all week. The 3 little ones loved the beach, with the 2 older ones going to the raft and back repeatedly. We really enjoyed the privacy of the beach. It was easier to identify “our” children that way.

The porch was a popular spot after the beach – with adults sharing cocktails and the children pretended it was a ship.

Especially enjoyed the handmade quilts, as I am a quilter myself. We hope to return!

9/23/07 Bridal Shower Weekend
Our weekend party of eleven women had an amazing time at 35 Neptune. We arrived on Friday and departed Sunday – all sad that we didn't have just one more day.

We were here celebrating my upcoming wedding. I didn't want a traditional bridal shower, but rather I wanted to spend time with women in my life – a chance to talk, eat, play games and sit on the beach and watch the sunrise.

We came from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Norway! Mothers and daughters, grandmothers and sisters.

Before we all return to our home a few of us will visit the Spa in Mystic/Groton for pampering and beautification In less than 4 weeks, I will marry the love of my life and will do so knowing I have the love, support and blessing on an amazing group of women. I am very fortunate, indeed.

Thank you for opening your home to us and helping make this wonderful weekend possible.

2/23/2008 Dad's 70th Birthday
We had a blast. My immediate family was here for the beginning of the week and the rest joined us for the end of the week. We all came from Mass. We had great walks on the beach, went to Mohegan, the Aquarium and bowling. Most of all we had lots of fun just being together at the house. We even set up our own casino and played blackjack.

We came to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday and retirement , and it was well worth it.

We did get snowed in one day , but we had fun with our casino and charades and a talent show.

Thanks again.

6/18/08 3 Generations
What a week we have had in this charming home! There were 3 generations ranging in age from 3 to 70 years! All had a ball at the beach – so nice that it is private!

We saw old friends and relatives, who joined us for dinner – that made it so special. Thanks for your hospitality.

8/2/2008 Coast Guard Academy Graduate and family
Great weather to sun and swim on the perfect beach, walking, running, fishing, biking, boating, gaming … We did it all, and had a fabulous time. We are so glad we found 35 Neptune on the Internet. The layout of the house gives teenagers their space. The dining area has the room needed for all to enjoy meals together. The fenced in backyard allowed our beagle “Mickey” and our welsh corgy “Scooter” the enjoyment of no leash running. All in all a very good setup for a vacation home.

Thank you for sharing.

11/30/2008 Thanksgiving
We gathered for our 15th annual Thanksgiving celebration.

The house and the beach were lovely. New addition - baby Audrey and Nora pregnant with twins. We were especially grateful to be able to have the house because several members of our party were not able to attend in 2007.

The weather could not have been better! Sunny and warm for late November.

12/13/2008 Missionary Home from Guatemala
Our three families gathered for the first time in just over three years. We celebrated the return of the youngest brother who recently returned form a 2-year mission in Guatemala.

The weather began cold and we had a little snow, much to the delight of the CA and TX families. The wind changed and it turned mild and rainy, which dampened some of our outdoor activities. But we still walked on the beach and enjoyed it very much.

We had a lot of fun being together, eating at Cove Fish Market, ordering pizza twice (Ocean Pizza!!) watching movies, playing games, visiting great grandparents in Groton, and looking at mission pictures.

It was great to be able to be all together in one house with plenty of space, where we could put them to bed and enjoy grown-up time.

It's a fun old house and has plenty of space for old and young. Thank you very much for letting us use it for the week.

Thanks for the Christmas tree. We loved it!

Great place to be with our families

My husband and I were part of the 14 staying here for my nieces wedding. It was a great place to be, close to the Ocean. It was a great place to be with all of our families, plenty of room.

Thanks for having us,

Tom and Linda D

We were a family of 14 people in for our daughter's wedding out in Canterbury at Wright Mill Farms. This location was beautiful and afforded us a chance to host a rehearsal dinner. We had lots of great conversations and games staying in this relaxed setting. Accommodating kitchen too boot.
Thanks so much

10 year old's review
This was a really nice house not only because of the fact that it fit all 14 of us, but (also) the decoration. We all thank you for upkeeping it and making it nice. Its a really nice location because we got access to the beach. For the children it was wonderful because we went to Sailfest which was very pretty and also very fun. Once again thank you. Jenna

From Jenna's Grandmother
Be sure to visit Mystic Seaport Museum. If you want huge waves Misquomicust State Park in R. I. was 42 minutes away. We really enjoyed the Thai/Japanese restaurant in downtown New London. Biking to Fort Trunbull is about a 7 minute round trip. For ice cream, Michael's on Montauk was delicious. I liked the Monster Mash flavor. Fireworks on the beach last night were great. All around a great summer vacation. First vacation in CT.

Visiting CT family

We had a very enjoyable week in Connecticut! We went to the beach a few times, enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and ate at a few good restaurants. The Recovery Room is great.
Thanks you for sharing your home with us!

8/6 Graduation and birthday celebration

Thank you for letting us stay in your house. It was big enough to fit our 13 people family in it. We were even able to have two “formal” dinners in teh dining room by using the lovely china. We celebrated one college graduation and two birthdays. The beach guard was very personal and friendly. We all enjoyed the beautiful private beach and its closeness to the house. We made use of the porch and played cards in the evenings. Some of of us went to Mystic Aquarium/Seaport and had a great time. Sea Swirl & Mystic Pizza are great places to grab a bite to eat. Unfortunately, no one won any money at the Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods,

Your home was very welcoming and inviting, and we will have very happy memories of our stay in your house.

Best Introduction to the Connecticut Coast Possible
While we don't know you Gloria we are thankful that you provided such a thoughtfully prepared home for your holiday renters. Our children and dogs were well corralled. Everything seemed available and at hand. Your porch provided the opportunity to meet your neighbors. Plus the beach and all the sites were great. This stay has been the best introduction to the Connecticut coast possible.
Jane and Phillip W
Owners Note: "Well corralled" refers to the fact that we provide several expandable child gates to restrict toddler and pet movements.
Home away from home - Beach spectacular
9/4 – 9/6 2010

We had a wonderful time at your house. It was home away from home. The beach was absolutely spectacular and since it was private we enjoyed it more. We plan to visit again next year. The house was the best location . We enjoyed the clean sheets, kitchen and more. Whenever get a chance – people should visit.
Owners note: I suspect their reference to "clean sheets" is because we place clean sheets on top of the stripped beds so you can make them yourselves. That way you know for sure the sheets are fresh.

Greatly Enjoyed your lovely home

The weather the first few days was pretty bad, but we greatly enjoyed your lovely house. The sun finally came out on Thursday! Swimming in October was a first for us!

Your list of places to eat came in very handy - tried a few of them.

We are already talking about booking another week with you next year.

Owner's comments: Swimming in October is not the norm. This year we had a few weeks of unusually warm weather for October.

Again, many Thanks.

The six women from Arizona, Colorado and Missouri arrived at the Neptune house Oct 9, 2010. We were delighted with the uniqueness of the house as it is spacious and comfortable. We walked the ocean beach several times and were fascinated by the beautiful views, sandy beach, sea shells, and birds. We are from areas that do not have such large bodies of water nor beaches – and it is fascinating.

We traveled to Vermont, Mass, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and Conn. Our time here went fast. The weather was beautiful, which made it enjoyable for us to travel to Conn and local states.

We had fun and liked each area we visited. The people are friendly, the food delicious and the areas beautiful with colored trees and homes so different from our areas – Large two/three story houses in close proximity.

We are happy we chose to visit and stay in New London and will remember our experiences for many years.

This home was the perfect place to stay for our long overdue vacation. The weather was fantastic. We did the Beluga Whale Encounter at Mystic Aquarium. That was GREAT.
We also went to Foxwoods. Dora, our very spoiled dog, had no problems adjusting to the house Thanks for everything.

This is a very comfortable place to have an end of summer get-away. It did rain on Friday and Saturday, be we enjoyed a trip to the Coast Guard Museum, the Casino, and visiting and playing dominoes and cards. We enjoyed the comfortable beds and the nice towels provided, and nicely furnished kitchen. Roomy for working together in meal preparation. Great place to relax

Thank you Gloria for us to be able to get-a-way from our routine lives back home. Our stay here despite the weather was surely a blessing so we could re-kindle friendships. Your home is delightful and was stepping back in time to have us be carefree and re-new our child like spirits to play games and eat with no worries.

For me this time of year is filled with up coming holidays and celebrations so this was my kick-of f week-end.

This area in CT is just another reminder how beautiful God's world really is.

Thank you . Gloria, for opening you house to us. It brought me back to my parent's home which is from the same era. The waterfront homes are spectacular to see – quite a treat

We arrived in the pouring rain late Saturday night after a very long drive from Virginia. We stopped at Newark Airport to pick up our son's girlfriend from Tokyo. We came here to see our son receive his commission as an Ensign in the United States Coast Guard. He had just completed a 17 week Officers Training School. We did a few days of touring the area despite the constant rain.

On Tuesday morning we met our daughter at the Amtrak station as she arrived for a banquet and ball for the OCS class.

The most amazing thing occurred on Graduation Day. It stopped raining !!! :-) The weather was beautiful. The graduation was very nice – all new ensigns wearing all white uniforms.

The house is very cozy and nice. The 3 floors made it very comfortable and private for several groups to have their own space.

Our dog Riley (a Sheltie) seemed to like it here, but wasn't sure about staying outside very long due the the rain! (which returned after graduation!!)

I forced my husband and family to make a trip to Tiverton, Ri to visit the family grave sites from the 1700's. We found several graves plus we got lost and talking to a very nice home owner who tried to help us. (He even showed us old graves on his property!)

We have a very nice (wet) week! Thanks!!

The B family arrived to attend their daughter Lisa's wedding . We had such a wonderful time meeting with our new in-laws. The wedding took place at the U. S. coast Guard Academy chapel where our daughter went to school and it was absolutely gorgeous! The reception was at the Hilton Mystic with many people from Alaska, California, Michigan, Mississippi and Connecticut as well as Mass and others.

Everyone loved this home and we had many dinners with people who came to the wedding. It was warm and comfortable here.

And – we enjoyed walking along the secluded beach and the beautiful quaint towns of Mystic, Niantic, etc. Thank you.

Our family came here from Monsey, NY for a week of vacation. We found out about this house over the Internet. We had a great time on the beach. We also went jet skiing and had horseback riding lessons for the family. On Thursday August 13 it was raining so we went to the Coast Guard Academy Museum. When it stopped raining we watched the Coast Guard Cadets marching and chanting. We then ate lunch by the picnic table near the pier enjoying the view of the sea and admiring the Coast Guard boats. We enjoyed staying at this house because of the private beach so close to the it and because it was easily able to host our large family of 10. I Thank you so much for making our great vacation possible.

We arrived two weeks ago – the grandparents from Newton, Ma and the rest of us from New York, NY. Grandma Bev had spent summers in Neptune Park through her childhood. She has been in heaven. The kids, Dean and Hal have had a blast. We lived at the beach and on the front porch. Could not have asked for better weather no rain at all until the very last day.

We made ourselves right at home in the house, which is great for a big family clan. We love the porch best of all. It has been a wonderful two weeks. We hope to return next summer.
