This home, often described by our guests as "gorgeous", has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 10-15. It is ideal for large groups and family reunions, but will also serve well for a luxury-seeking couple who can use the upstairs only, if they like. The mountain decor and unique decorating touches make this house feel far more like a friend's vacation home than a rental house.
Rocky Retreat is located in a quiet, wooded, Old Tahoe residential area, and combines privacy with easy accessibility to everything Tahoe has to offer.
The Great Room is expansive but cozy with it's high vaulted ceilings, skylights, and floor-to-ceiling windows. A stone gas fireplace brings special warmth to the Great Room, creating a cozy place where the whole family or group can come together to spend a relaxing evening after a day of fun.
The pine corner armoire houses a large TV,DVD,VCR, as well as a sound system & a collection of games appropriate for the whole family. French doors lead to a redwood deck with a filtered view of the lake, deck furniture & 2 barbeques. Sunsets over the lake are fabulous from this vantage point.
The large kitchen is equipped with gourmet cooking equipment and serving pieces, and is open to the Great Room and gracious dining area, so the cook (or cooks, for the kitchen is spacious enough to provide for many!) will never feel separated from the rest of the group.
Upstairs, on the same level as the Great Room and kitchen, the Master Bedroom, with its Queen log bed, creates a feeling of peace and tanquility. French doors open onto the deck and there is a large vanity area separate from the bathroom.
Downstairs there are 3 bedrooms and one bathroom (as well as a fully equipped kitchenette):
The Forest Room has a Queen bed+ a double futon. The Garden Room has a Queen bed. The Bunk Room has 2 sets of log bunk beds (i.e.4 twins). The Bunk Room also has a TV/VCR and a computer desk/armoire full of games for the kids. Two of the sofas in the Great Room are sofabeds: a Queen & a Twin.
The fully enclosed, landscaped garden has a large hot tub, garden furniture and a barbeque.
Access is level and parking for 3-4 cars is easy.

The beach with snow was amazing and our kids all enjoyed the sledding down to it. Absolutely tons of snow, so the skiing was wonderful. Lake looked fantastic in the early evening light---flat as a mirror. This house is in a great location, and extremely quiet (except for our 6 kids!) Thanks for a great time. This place is wonderful! It was large & open enough to accommodate our entire family without being crowded. We enjoyed the views from the deck & relaxing back yard. Rocky Retreat was the perfect place for hosting the El… family reunion. The home is beautiful, very well-equipped, and conveniently located.
