With MORE WILDLIFE THAN PEOPLE, The "BonBon" is a "homey get-away" for its regulars and a "delightful surprise" for its first timers. Besides spectacular ocean views from almost every room, and the pristine natural beauty of the surrounds (we're next door to a wildlife sanctuary), the BonBon itself is spacious, open, airy and clean. Attractively updated and furnished in colors that blend with Nature's palette outside, it's fully equipped with everything you need (but consumables) to be comfy without having to leave the place.
There are 3 queen size beds (master, and 2 new sleep sofas in living room) and 2 twins (second bedroom). Besides all that, there are soft designer sheets, choices of vases, candleholders, napkins and placemats, there are lots of games and books - both reference and throwaway - all user optional; real art, and pieces from exotic places like Kathmandu, Peru, Tibet. These are just little extras.
The "main event" is the particular spot where the BonBon sits... With a wildlife preserve on one side and open land on the other, there are thousands of feet of sugary white wide beach to share with very few other people.
There are miles of it to hike, and the busiest times are early am when the distance and dog hikers are out and again after about 6 pm. Just beyond our immediate thousands of feet however, you'll find people- lots. But you'll probably just want to hang out... you'll understand why when you read our guest book, and ultimately experience it for yourself.
Inlet Beach is a relaxed beach community with more preserved land than residential, and no commercial except for two restaurants (both good) and a not so quick stop gas/convenience store. Because Inlet Beach is surrounded on three sides by water (freshwater Lake Powell on the North, mixed salt/fresh water in Phillip's Inlet (E) connecting the lake with ocean (S), it offers a wide variety of water activities, both fresh and saltwater fishing, and a variety of habitats and species, good wildlife viewing, birding and photo opportunities.
While Inlet Beach is quiet and natural, if you crave activity there's plenty just a short bike ride down the trail (beside 2 lane 30A) heading West. You can explore all sorts of interesting and unusual shops, good restaurants, architecture from weird to wonderful, lakes, state parks, and all manner of little beachtowns, each with its own personality (Rosemary, Seaside, Grayton, Blue Mountain, Santa Rosa etc.).
If you go East you'll find lots of neon in the form of arcades, go carts, amusement parks, bumper boats, putt-putt golf and rides devoted to freefall and various types of adrenaline rushes. After you've had enough, stop at the grocery 2 miles from home because once you get back there's a good chance you'll want to spend the rest of your stay just taking in all the beauty, tranquillity, and ease of the BonBon.
Every season, nature has beautiful varied offerings, whether it's a loggerhead turtle laying eggs in front of the house and the subsequent hatchlings of summer, the seaoat festooned dunes of late summer and fall, the spectacular sunsets of winter, or the blue lupines duneside in spring you'll find the BonBon a worthy retreat.
