This lovely three-bedroom, two-bath-home comfortably sleeps up to six people.
Known as Base Ramey or Las Villas in Aguadilla, the Northwest corner of Puerto Rico can't be beat for views. You can see the golf course that abuts the backyard, and the beach below the house in the collage above. To see the comfort you will enjoy when you stay at Puerto Rico Getaway, take a look at these interior views of our home.
This 1,600 square foot home-away-from-home has plenty of space and amenities for everyone. The cherry dining room table pulls out to seat twelve. Dinner on the screened porch, with a magnificent ocean sunset in the background, is also just what vacations were made for.
The kitchen is fully equipped, from china dinner plates and crystal stemware to a bread machine and microwave. The ceramic stove top and electric oven make meal preparation easy. There is also a small charcoal grill on the patio.
If you don't want to cook on vacation, click on the food button to check out other options. Be sure, though, that you walk up the street to Taino's for hot fresh bread for breakfast. Step outside when you hear the ice cream truck's music in the afternoon and get your treats delivered.
Please enjoy the piano. There are music books and sheet music in the Chinese chest next to the piano. The whole family can play the board games that are in the toy box in the family room.
There are beach shoes, life jackets, flippers, buckets, shovels, fishing nets, boogie boards and beach sports equipment in the white cupboards on the patio. The volleyball net, Frisbees and badminton set are also there just for you.

Puerto Rico Getaway has "the best location in the nation". It is surrounded by gorgeous beaches, and it is within an hour's drive of two of the top-ten "Puerto Rico Must-Sees".
There is a complete guide to all of the attractions in the area, including detailed maps, information on hiking trails, and traveling tips, in the desk of the secretary in the living room. Some favorite places include:
Punta Borinquen Golf Course
A minute's walk will get your onto this beautiful course. Presidents Eisenhower and Johnson found it a challenge when they visited Ramey Base. At just $18 for an 18-hole round and spectacular views, you can't go wrong.
Tropical Trail Rides is fifteen minutes from the house off of #110. Horseback riding adventures for the whole family. 9am and 4pm departures.

Camuy Caves offer guided tours of the most impressive subterranean cave network in the western hemisphere.
Use the directions provided in our tour guide book at the house for a route to the caves that will take you past Lake Guajataca. You will see the "real" Puerto Rican countryside at its best. I can guarantee that you won't be able to resist stopping along the roadside for pictures and awe time before you even get to the caves.
Arecibo Observatory is one hour from the house. It is only three miles from Camuy Caves, but please resist the temptation to pack both into the same day. Seeing the largest radio telescope on earth is worth a separate trip. The 520 steps to climb to get to the telescope may be another thing you'd want to consider when deciding whether it should be a different visit than the "cave day". Why not couple the Observatory day with renting the James Bond thriller "Golden Eye", so you can see how the producers used the telescope in the film?
The Phosphorescent Bay at La Parguera is my favorite place in all of Puerto Rico.
There are two tours of the bay, each having its advantages. I enjoy Johnny's Boats. Because the boat sits close to the water, you can more readily scoop up the microbe-filled water into your hands. A young man also swims around the boat so that you can see the glow of the microbes in the water. If you don't think that a night swim in tropical waters, with a glow around you is an invitation for dinner, Johnny will be happy to have you swim too. You just won't get the tips at the end of the ride.
FOOD
There are wide ranges in the quality of food in Puerto Rico. If you know where to look, though, the range doesn't have to be from good rice and beans to bad beans and rice. In this list are places that have distinct features-some of which has more to do with the tropical ambiance of the place than the food-others having both.
Puerto Rico's best-kept secrets are the beaches of the Northwest Corner. Just take a look at these pictures!
Wilderness Beach lies at the bottom of the cliff in back of our house. That's my good side in the foreground on the right.
Jobos Beach is a ten minute drive from the house on #110. It's a great beach for surfing and boogie boarding out by the blow hole, while being nice and calm closer to shore for youngsters.
Also ten minutes from the house, off of #110, Shack's Beach is popular for snorkeling. It is also a launching point for scuba fans. Snorkeling or diving equipment can be rented at Aquatica Underwater Adventures. Look to your left at Gate 5, just before the Esso Station, and you will see it.
Kite boarders also love Shack's Beach.
Another great place is Crash Boat Beach.
Here, you will find more palm trees closer to the water, for those who need a break from the sun. There are also small kiosks selling pinchos. (Delicious shish kabobs of freshly grilled chicken, pork, or shrimp, with a piece of bread over the point). Another "must" treat is a piragua, or shaved flavored ice.
Survival Beach is a gorgeous stretch of beach for hikers and shell collectors. Craig and Michelle Barker also make use of the beach and surrounding almond grove on their two-hour guided Tropical Trail Rides.
