Experience true Provencal Living A vacation for body and soul in the heart of Provence

THE HOUSE
Menerbes is one of the most charming historic hilltop villages in Provence. The setting for the book and TV series "A Year in Provence", the village lies in the heart of the Luberon Natural Park, 60 min. drive from the Medieval City 0f Avignon.

The house is situated in a quiet street, across the road from a gardens with cherry, apricot, plum, pear and fig trees. The house is three hundred years old, and has been lovingly restored and modernized without losing any of its charm and character.

The property consists of two ancient stone buildings on either side of a magical internal courtyard where you can eat al fresco at the large round table. Above this courtyard is a colourful mature terraced garden, with stone steps winding up to the swimming pool. This is situated above the house and enjoys magnificent panoramic views over the rooftops and right across the Luberon Valley. The pool has plenty of seating all around it and a small poolhouse.

The main house has a spacious living room on the ground floor with a beautiful stone vaulted ceiling. On the next floor is a double bedroom with a wood-beamed ceiling and a bathroom with shower next door to it. A few steps up from this is a second sitting room with a large TV and video. At the top of the house is the extremely spacious master bedroom (approx 40 square metres) with high beamed ceilings and a luxurious ensuite bathroom with natural stone flooring and a large Roman style bathtub. This bedroom boasts views across the valley on one side, and on the other a balcony looking over the terraced garden. On moonlit nights the moonbeams stream in, making it extremely romantic and heavenly!

On the other side of the courtyard is a converted stable block with the dining-room and fitted Gaggeneau kitchen on the ground floor, and two further bedrooms and a bathroom on the floors above.

Throughout, the original character of the house has been preserved, with ancient stone stairways, iron railings, traditional wooden shutters, and other charming features of historic Provence. But the kitchen and bathrooms are fully modernized, the pool has an automatic cleaning device, and throughout the interior is hung with a variety of beautiful fabrics and numerous interior design features from fittings to furnishings.

Across the street is the breakfast terrace which sits in the midst of cherry, apricot, plum, pear and fig trees. There is a garage plus off-street parking for 2 more cars. The house is in an extremely peaceful spot, but it is just a minute's walk from the heart of the village with its bakery for fresh croissants in the morning, its cafes and its charming shops.
