If heaven was on earth then this just might be it!!! FIJI, one of the most beautiful and enchanting places in the world, is made up of nearly 300 islands. The third largest, TAVEUNI is the jewel of Fiji and rightfully lives up to its notoriety as theGarden Island. Situated on the tip of Taveuni on its breathtaking shoreline is MATEI POINTE. Kelly and Scott Schulman, residents of Chico, California, fell so deeply in love with the people and beauty of the island upon their first trip that they purchased Matei Pointe. As the Schulman's experience their dream come true, now they want to share their dream with you.
Kelly and Scott's piece of paradise has a 220-degree ocean view, with private beaches on the east side for inspiring sunrises topped off with dramatic sunsets over the west beach.
Situated on the gorgeous SomoSomo Straits, snorkeling awaits you right outside your front door. Escape on a kayak to a neighboring island, scuba in one of the top 5 dive sites in the world, or just gather in the year-round, friendly sunshine on Matei Pointe's private beach and jetty.
Matei Pointe is walking distance to four small restaurants, the convenient airport, and an adequately stocked general store. The Pointe's grounds are nothing short of magnificent. Gigantic fruit trees frame the resort with thousands of mangos, avocados the size of a footballs, mouth-watering bananas and succulent papayas are yours for the picking.
You'll be hard pressed to leave your deck as you overlook the manicured lawn to the jetty where you can view colorful tropical fish, take a refreshing swim in the shallow crystal clear waters or rock yourself in the hammock with a good book. It's the perfect spot to cool off with a refreshing drink while watching the sunset over the turquoise water. The Pointe's main house is a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath (one with outdoor shower), recently refurbished with both a modern and traditional motif. You'll be as comfortable inside as outside with all the normal amenities.
Kelly and Scott's piece of paradise has a 300-degree view, with private beaches on the east side for inspiring sunrises topped off with dramatic sunsets over the west beach.
Climate
Fiji enjoys an ideal South Sea tropical climate. It is thus a perfect holiday destination, especially for those trying to escape the severe Northern Hemisphere winters.
Maximum summer temperatures (January-February) average 31 Degrees Celsius (88 Degrees F) and the mean minimum is 22 Degrees Celsius (72 Degrees F). The winter (July-August) average maximum is 29 Degrees Celsius (84 Degrees Celsius F) and the mean minimum is 19 Degrees Celsius (66 Degrees Celsius F). Temperatures can be much cooler in the uplands of the interior of the large islands.
A cooling trade wind blows from the east-southeast throughout most of the year. Typically winds drop to a whisper in the evening and pick up again by midmorning to offer perfectly timed cooling. Fiji has a climate ideally suited for the outdoors, the beach and surf, for light cotton dresses, barbecues and water sports.

We have one 2.5 bedroom/2bath Villa and also two 1 bedroom houses (SomoSomo1 and 2) and a large studio, Sunset(bure). We have over 1200’ of beachfront and all four units have unobstructed views of the SomoSomo Straits. As we are on the tip of Taveuni we have the sun rising on our East beach and setting on our West beach. We now also have a 3 bedroom villa.

During your stay, you will be well cared for by Pita and his wife Lo. They are on the grounds daily to take care of Matei Pointe, but first and foremost, to tend to your needs. Pita and Lo epitomize the friendly, simple and loving Fijian style and unsurpassed hospitality. They will be thrilled to share their paradise and traditions with you. Their Fijian, "No worries," attitude will ensure that your needs for anything from grocery shopping, massage therapy, fishing excursions, local knowledge exchanges, laundry service or even just a song performed by Pita (he is an accomplished musician) is handled. Pita and Lo are to Matei Pointe as the sun is to our fruits and flowers. Please don't try to take them home with you. They are essential to Matei Pointe, as you will soon discover.

Matei Pointe is located on Taveuni, the third largest island in Fiji. Taveuni is a coconut covered island with tropical rain-forests, waterfalls, and sparkling white sand beaches surrounded by some of the world's most pristine coral reefs.
MATEI POINTE is only minutes from the airport where Pita and Lo will happily meet you. Matei Pointe, as its name implies, is on the tip of the lovely little town of Matei, Taveuni. Taveuni is the third largest of the Fijian Islands, almost 30 miles long and up to 7 miles wide with a height of almost 4,000 feet. Appropriately named "The Garden Island," Taveuni is a paradise of waterfalls, rainforests, beaches and stunning shallow waters. The real beauty, however, is in its people.
Just 10 minutes past majestic Matei Pointe are four quaint restaurants, a general store, and dive boats for diving enthusiasts. The town of Somosomo is just a short cab ride from the resort. In town, you'll find a bakery, bank, specialty shops and 2 supermarkets.
Matei Pointe is special in that it is the only property with a 300-degree view. You'll find yourself literally on the tip of the Garden Island with private beaches to awaken you daily by the morning sunrise and another to wind down each day by the dramatic sunsets and moonscapes.
