Property Information |

Ambrosia, the elixir of the gods, was known in ancient times to bestow
immortality to humans lucky enough to savor some. While we don’t make
any such claims, the nectar from over 1400 acres of prime Vino Nobile di
Montepulciano vines surrounding this villa will surely make you come to
life.
In addition to the seemingly endless rows of DOCG vineyards, the
enveloping hills are also draped in vast fields of sunflowers and capped
by silver hued olive groves producing some of Tuscany’s finest extra
virgin olive oil. The views stretch across to the walls of nearby
Montepulciano and beyond.
Villa Ambrosia is a flawlessly kept, non-smoking private home that
seamlessly blends genuine Tuscan wood beams, brick archwork and
terracotta floors with all manner of modern comforts and an array of
services. Tastefully adorned with high quality furnishings and intelligently
crafted, the home is understated modern elegance at its finest.
All rooms are air conditioned. A chair lift rises above the three entry steps
to the elevator. Upon exiting the elevator, the second floor bedrooms
require four steps. Each bedroom has a minifridge and an en suite
bathroom, with four having Jacuzzi style tubs or showers. The dining
room and the main living room on the top floor each comfortably seat all
guests. Even a laptop with dial-up Internet access is provided.
The wine bar opens onto the dining room and enjoys a commercial grade
espresso machine. The bar may be stocked for your stay with a variety of
beverages selected from a liquor menu at the time of booking. The
spacious kitchen is equipped for professional chefs and designed for
extensive meal preparation.
Inside the villa’s ground level foyer, a small showroom is opened on
request, where guests may purchase extra virgin olive oil, Vin Santo,
grappa and select wines from the owner’s many holdings.
The pool on a level below is sheltered among the olive groves. On the
other side of the villa, 60 yards beyond a copse of tall cypress, rests the
agricultural estate that owns both the villa and the land. The estate office
acts as the villa’s reception area and can arrange a guided tour of the
working vineyard, a visit to its wine cellars or vinsantaia, where grapes for
Vin Santo are dried from November to February. Meals that pair food with
estate wines, cooking classes and tastings of wine, oil or grappa are also
possible.
Daily maid service is included in the price along with an informal wine
and bruschetta reception upon arrival.
Being on an agricultural estate, you can expect to see and hear farming
activity at various times during the year. The village of Acquaviva, with a
grocery store and a restaurant, is a 10 minute drive away. Montefollonico,
20 minutes by car, features the Il Tondo park with views that span from
Tuscany’s tranquil Val d’Orcia to Lake Trasimeno in Umbria.
Chiusi, with 90 minute trains to Rome or Florence, lies within a 25 minute
drive. The same time leads to Montepulciano or charming Cetona, one of
Italy’s oldest inhabited areas featuring prehistoric caves and a museum
filled with artifacts. Sarteano, a 35 minute drive, hosts its outdoor market
every Friday morning; Pienza: 40; Arezzo or Perugia: 45; Siena: 60;
Florence: 90; Rome or Lucca: 120.
