Property Information |

The area known as the Castelli Romani is a mere 15 miles south of Rome.
It hugs two volcanic lakes — proper terrain for excellent wine making —
that are ringed by palm laden hills topped with elaborate Renaissance
villas. The ruins of Tuscolo, a pre-Roman city that according to legend
was founded by the son of Ulysses, are just minutes away from Villa Gilda
along an ancient road that leads to the wine capital of Frascati.
Villa Gilda is a smoke free, well furnished, modern home in a residential
area that offers interesting views, great proximity to a host of historic
cities, plenty of indoor and outdoor space and a variety of entertaining
amenities.
The first two floors open directly onto the grounds. One level faces a
terrace equipped with a barbecue and a pizza oven. The other leads to
the gardens with a gazebo and to a private pool with an adjacent outdoor
shower.
Inside, a generously proportioned family room on the lowest level offers a
fireplace that’s suitable for indoor grilling, a dining table seating 20, ping
pong and foosball. Throughout the villa, the furnishings are
contemporary, relaxed and comfortable. The three bedrooms on the first
floor are air conditioned. Three hours of mid week maid service are
included.
Within 200 yards are tennis courts, a grocery store and a bus stop that
leads to Frascati, where frequent trains service Rome. A 30 minute train
ride ends at Rome’s central station.
In the beautiful and undiscovered hill town of Rocca Priora, a five minute
drive away, are a variety of shops and family run restaurants. By car,
Frascati or Grottaferrata are 15 minutes away; Lake Albano or Lake Nemi:
20; Castel Gandolfo: 25; Tivoli and Hadrian’s Villa: 40; Rome’s historic
center or the airport: 45; Anzio: 60; Montecassino or Orvieto: 90; Naples,
Sperlonga or Gaeta: two hours.
