Over 2400 square feet, The McDow Log Home is beautifully appointed with three bedrooms, two baths, as well as huge "windows to the woods" in the great room and living room. There is a king bed in the master suite, a double bed in second bedroom and a queen bed in the third bedroom. This home was built and furnished as a beautiful family home,not a rental. You will appreciate the difference. The McDow Log Home offers the solitude, pristine beauty, and amenities that you desire in a mountain vacation home.
A 12 minute drive takes you to the winter playland of Durango Mountain Resort (Purgatory Ski Area) where fantastic mountain scenery, surperb alpine and Nordic skiing, as well as over 300 days of sunshine makes this one of best kept secrets in the ski world.
But there is plenty of fun for non-skiers and boarders such as tubing hills, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice climbing, shopping, dining, dancing, and more. The summer offers a special beauty with wildflowers abloom,waterfalls, high mountain scenery and lots to do!! Try jeeping, hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, fishing, rodeos, summer concerts, wine tastings and more!
Durango, a charming historic western town, is home to the Durango Narrow Gauge Railroad. "The Train" takes you up into a winter wonderland of incredible backcountry scenery. In the summer "The Train" stops in an historic mining town of Silverton. This is a ride worth taking!!! Mesa Verde National Park is nearby or try soaking,massage and relaxation opportunties at natural hot springs that are just minutes away.
Watch the wildlife from your wrap around deck or take a Jacuzzi after an exhilarating winter day. Cozy up to the fire after a home cooked meal in the gourmet kitchen. In the summer cook up those fish you caught on the BBQ or hike down to a "classic Colorado" mountain lake and have dinner in a rustic 70 y.o."sporting club" in a boathouse with views of a near 14,000 ft Engineer Mountain.
