Durango has a way of pulling you in... making you try to figure out ways you can stay here forever... it is a mountain oasis, a refuge from work and city stress, a winter wonderland. Our "Cascade Condo" is in the heart of the best parts of Durango and we would like to share it with you.
As you walk into our comfortable, two-bedroom, two-bath home you will immediately be drawn to the views of the incredible San Juan Mountain range. Almost every room has these mountain views. Sparkling white snow-capped peaks, the cool green upon granite, or the Aspen golds make any season awe-inspiring. Take your gift bottle of wine we have for you to the deck and sip and savor these majestic mountains. Or snuggle up to the real wood fireplace (we provide the wood) in the cozy living room or dining area and watch the snow fall. The TV has cable, movie channels, VCR, and DVD options.
Our home has never been on the rental market and it shows, with all new tasteful furniture and appliances. (This is one of the few Cascade units that has a washer/dryer right in the unit versus downstairs in the carport!) The sofa bed provides additional sleeping options.
The downstairs bedroom has twin beds (or converted to a king, if desired) and convenient bath with shower/tub and, of course, "The Views." There is a second TV for kids. A short flight of stairs takes you to the master suite with a quality king-sized bed, designer linens, and bath with double sinks and a jacuzzi tub. Open the shutters and once again there are "The Views." A third TV is available to catch your favorite late night show.
The Cascade Village complex is an easy one mile to Durango Mountain Ski/Summer Resort. A free shuttle will take you to the resort and surrounding restaurants/activities encompassing almost every type of outdoor winter sport you could desire. This includes a unique bungee/trampoline and tubing hill for the kids. Soak under the stars and falling snow in one of two outdoor hot tubs after an exhilarating day of skiing/boarding while the kids play in the indoor pool right on site of the Cascade Village complex. (Keep in mind this is one of only four lodging options at/near Durango Mountain Resort that has a swimming pool.)A bar/resturant is also on site. Covered convenient parking makes access a breeze.
In summer, it is a rare treat to enjoy a music festivals with the background of majestic mountains, waterfalls, and wildflowers. Alpine sides, world-class mountain biking, miniature and award-winning golf courses nearby provide as much fun in the summer as winter. Ask any local and they will tell you that it is up here "on the mountain" where the best hiking and biking are. Catch a jeep tour to incredible high country or hop on a horse for some real western trail riding. In summer, this area (around Cascade Village) is often eight-ten degrees cooler than downtown Durango area since we are about 2000 feet higher. With temperatures sometimes reaching the high 90s in Durango, this mountain location can make a big difference!! Of course, our cool mountain nights are great for sleeping. In the winter it may be raining in downtown Durango but at this elevation you can be assured of snow!!
But do head to downtown Durango for great restaurants, clubs, live theatre, rodeos, bike paths, and to catch the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Take a day trip Mesa Verde National Park home of the ancient "cliff dweller" Native Americans. Continue on the Sky Juan Skyway (listed as one of the most beautiful drives in America) to Telluride or the high mountain town of Ouray for a great day trip.
There is so much to do and see in any season that you will want to come back and our "Cascade Condo" is the perfect location to enjoy everything these San Juan Mountains offer!
