Tucked onto the waterfront in the old town of St. George’s (a UNESCO recognized World Heritage Site) is a comfortable 2 bedroom second floor apartment that suits up to 4 persons and an infant. The handsome waterfront home is close to St. Peter's Church, and all the attractions of the old town and a short walk from pubs, shops and grocery and pharmacy facilities. Equipped with two pretty bedrooms, the house has modern kitchen and bath facilities and will suit guests who yearn for surroundings steeped in history and mere steps to a pretty and colorful town, full of interesting things to see and do. Once inside the front door of the house, the apartment is accessed by a short flight of stairs to the second floor. The accommodation is composed of an open plan living room with a dining room and full kitchen. All rooms have a water view! The spacious master bedroom has ample closet space and a large bathroom en suite. A crib can be arranged for an infant. The smaller second bedroom has a double bed and its own bathroom. There is a separate powder room as well. The closest beach is Tobacco Bay - about 10 minutes walk, and renowned for its snorkeling attractions. Fort St. Catherine Beach is approximately 15 minutes walk away. Clearwater Beach is a 15 minutes bus or moped ride and is a spectacular stretch of sand and quiet turquoise water. The St. Georges Golf course is just over the hill. If you don't want to rent a scooter, or use a bus pass, there is a mini bus that can be called upon for a small fee.
The old town of St. Georges features many attractions. Every Tuesday night when the cruise ships arrive there are vendors in the Town Square and the shops stay open until 9 pm. . The cruise ship arrives on Tuesday mornings from Boston and departs Fridays at noon each week from end of April to end of October. Most guests enjoy it being there and it can be seen from only 2 windows in the suite. There are walking tours daily and a special re-enactment of the old ducking stool - a punishment reserved for nagging or gossiping women from a long time ago! Every street offers wonderful old houses perched right on the road allowance or set deep in lush gardens. Many buildings are old, dating from the 1600's and 1700's. Development in the old town has been restricted so one has the pleasure of savoring an historical setting unmarred by inappropriate development. There are museums, old government buildings and meeting halls, and handsome forts to explore in St. Georges, as well as the replica of the small ship that rescued the early settlers- this is a particular hit with children. The oldest church in the Western hemisphere still in use is the truly lovely St. Peter’s Church with its exceptional timbered interiors, handsome collections of silver and furniture, and the flanking graveyard that holds so many of the island's earliest settlers. Nearby local restaurants include Pasta-Pasta, Café Gio, Carriage House, George & Dragon, Temptations, as well as the Tavern By The Sea. There is also an Internet Cafe on Water Street called Cafe Latte. The house has telephone service and all overseas calls to U.S.A. and Canada are free and unlimited. This applies to land lines also in the U.K. Situated in the historic Storekeeper's House on Ordnance Island (over the bridge from Town Square) you feel like you have boarded a boat when you step into the living room of this waterside apartment overlooking St. George's Harbour. You are close to the dock where majestic cruise ships tie alongside and, when you step over the bridge, you will find you are in the heart of this World Heritage Site. The beaches of Tobacco Bay, Achilles Bay and Fort St. Catherine are close by.
