Property Information
Situated on a ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea with a view to Ten Bay beach, is "Georgie's Gale". Surrounded by trees, privacy and Caribbean beauty, reminds you that this indeed is what island living is all about.
The Villa:
Comprised of 2000 sq. ft. under roof, which includes two screened porches, two bedrooms, each with a private bath, along with fully equipped kitchen, great room, dining area and loft. The front entrance has a very large deck and the water side has upper and lower decks running the width of the house. It was completed January 2002.
Living Area:
The living, dining and kitchen area run the entire width of the house (50'), very comfortably furnished, with many amenities. The great room has a 30' cathedral ceiling. The kitchen has a gas stove top in the centre island and an electric oven. A dishwasher, microwave and small appliances are available.
Loft Area:
Practically a second living room. It is more casually furnished, has a stereo and a TV-VCR for watching videos, and wonderful views. Access to this and the upper bedroom is the oak spiral staircase. Access to screened porch and upper deck is through a French door.
Bedrooms:
The upstairs room has a king size bed, bath with glass enclosed shower and bathtub, with access to upper deck through sliding glass doors. The first floor room has twin beds, private bath with glass enclosed shower and access to screened porch and lower deck through a French door. Both have AC units.
Additional Rate Information
Rates:
$1,600 per week. Four people maximum. A non-smoking residence. Due to high decks, no children under six. A refundable security deposit of $500 is required, plus 50% of rent. Full payment must be received 60 days prior to rental date. Certified bank checks or travelers checks are the most convenient.

Access to the water and/or Ten Bay Beach can be from our wonderful deck ladder, or by foot, down the road to the path by the pink house.
Property Activities
Eleuthera, one of the Bahamian group known as the Family Islands, is often referred to as "One Big Beach". Indeed, it has some of the most spectacular beaches in the Caribbean. Our beach is Ten Bay Beach, about 10 miles south of the historic town of Governor’s Harbour and about 17 miles north of Rock Sound. Part of the fun of visiting Eleuthera is discovering as much as you can, or want to, on your own. Plus, you have a choice of the spectacular Atlantic side or the serene, beautiful Caribbean side.
The island is about 100 miles long and anywhere from three miles to a few yards wide. It is off the coast of southern Florida, about one hour in flight time or twenty minutes from Nassau.
The people are extremely friendly and helpful and are scattered among the 15 or so little towns running the length of the island. Governor's Harbour and Rock Sound are among the two largest towns with the most shopping, services and nearby airports.
Ten Bay beach is about 10 miles from Governor's Harbour and 15 miles from Rock Sound and is located on the Caribbean side of the island. We are one of a small group of homes built adjacent to the beach with wonderful sunsets and views, excellent snorkeling, swimming and good shelling. Ten Bay is also one of the spots for sport bonefishing.
There is daily air service to the island and many alternatives to getting there, depending on your departure point. We usually fly to Nassau and then on to Eleuthera via Bahamasair. There are several small airlines in Ft. Lauderdale that fly direct to Governor's Harbour on certain days of the week, Twin Air being one that we have used.

The $15.00 Bahamas departure tax is now usually included in the price of your U.S. airline tickets.
There are several good restaurants in each section of the island and fresh fish can be purchased right from the boat, most afternoons in Tarpum Bay and Governor's Harbour. The grocery selections are more limited than in the states since everything has to be brought in by boat. Lobster season runs from August 1st until March 31st.
We chose to build our dream home in Eleuthera because of the beauty, the climate, the solitude, the people and the sense of adventure. If watching beautiful sunsets and walking on totally deserted beaches sounds like paradise then this is the place for you. If you want high-rise hotels, fast food restaurants and fancy night life, it's not. |
