The Island View Hide-Away is conveniently located on the Lake Wisconsin waterfront midway between Madison and the Wisconsin Dells, just one and a half hours from Milwaukee and three hours from Chicago.
This 2-bedroom, 2-bathrm house has a bright, clean kitchen and a wonderful open layout on the first floor. A beautiful view out the wall of livingroom windows look toward green, sandy islands and the undeveloped distant shores of the Wisconsin River as it opens up into Lake Wisconsin. Bring, or rent a boat nearby, to explore the many channels, sandbars, and islands of the Wisconsin River and Lake Wisconsin.
Fish by boat or from your own pier for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, Catfish, Largemouth, Crappie, Perch, and more.
Many nearby day-trip possibilities including the WI Dells, Devil's Lake State Park, Baraboo Circus World Museum, the Wollensheim Winery and so much more. Relaxing!

Dave & Cheryl - Great place! The view and wildlife made for serene moments, yet all the comforts of home right at hand. WOW! On 6-6-06 a tornado passed several miles away. It thundered for two hours - practically continually. We were just on the southern end, and watched with wonder as the huge clouds billowed past. Cable TV, a GREAT sound system for listening to Dave Brubeck, Dexter Gordon and Billy Holiday CDs with a couple of Frank Sinatra thrown in for good measure. What a great place to escape the hustle & bustle of the city in order to relax in the great outdoors! We had a wonderful time - the house was very well equipped & comfortable. Hey Dave, We arrived this afternoon in the rain (yuk!). Mild temps though. Ventured out later along Whalen Grade where we saw swans and pelicans. Also spotted turkeys along highway V. Not bad for the first day even in the rain. Also saw birds of all kinds/colors - black, red, brown, grey, yellow, orange, etc. Turkeys, Eagles, Buzzards. Labradors, Sliver Fox, deer all over. Went down to the Crane Foundation yesterday, (various species of bugs and mosquitoes) Many different kids of cranes to see. Yesterday was a beautiful day. Really enjoyed it. We had a very nice week at your cottage. Our 3 year old twin daughters got to swim and fish for the first time. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves - as did the adults! Dave & Cheryl - Thank-you so much for sharing your cottage with us for the month. We had a great time relaxing, talking, and getting away from life's multiple stressors. Enjoying the lake was the highlight of our experience here - whether we were swimming, fishing, boating, or just dangling our feet in the water as we watched the sunsets together. One night, in particular, we watched a doe wade onto shore and then take off into the woods. The doe's silhouette as dusk turned to darkness was simply beautiful. We also saw a Bald Eagle, Yellow Finches, Woodpeckers, and too many fish to count. Our experiences will stay with us as fond memories, and we hope to get back to the area soon to make new ones. The furniture was extremely comfortable, the kitchen well stocked and organized and everything very tactfully decorated. I admit the light floor and carpet presented problems each time we came in from the woods, however, I would always see where to sweep. Our Scottie & Yorkie really liked the patio window. Thanks for providing the bird feeders. We were able to see some that done make their way into the City. Your neighbors, Ron & Tia were very nice and helpful. Hope our paths cross sometime. Dear Dave & Cheryl - Where to start? Your "cottage" is delightful! Comfortable, welcoming, wonderfully equipped and furnished and very relaxing with a quiet, beautiful location. Loved evening sunsets on he dock. And the view of the island made us feel as if we were totally alone. And then there was FITZ's!!! If we weren't there for fish, it was for pig! Great place! We loved the ferry and found great apples on a local farm - all-in-all, we had a great week (weather perfect) and thank you both for sharing your delightful Lake Wisconsin Home!
