Unit #221 is quite exceptional. In fact, it is one of the best units in the building! In addition to incredible views and ocean breezes, you'll find considerably more room plus a very functional kitchenette for your home cooking needs.
You will find available an attractive electric skillet, rice cooker, toaster, microwave, a regular size refrigerator/freezer, blender - plus many other amenities such as Kona coffee, condiments.
Reed's Bay is centrally located in the heart of old downtown Hilo and about 10 minutes from the HILO Airport. The popular Walmart and Prince Kuhio Plaza are about 3 miles away in the other direction. We are located in a dedicated section of Hilo Bay which is lined with historic Banyan Trees, views of the ocean, and the wonderful Japanese Tea Garden in Queen Liliokalani Park. There is a nostaglic 60's-ish feel to this town. This spot gives you a chance to re-live the sentiments of what 'old Hawaii' used to be like about 40-50 years ago…sentimentally sweet!
The views from unit #221 are simply outstanding ~ you'll find the harbor quite a busy place to observe while sipping on your morning coffee. The ocean is ever changing and the waves dance up and around the lava rocks right below your balcony as the tides change.
Best of all are the "Prides" ~ THE huge cruise ships that silently glide into Hilo Bay 3 times a week! There are a total of seven "Prides" that visit the harbor, so here's a tip: be sure to make your car rental arrangements as far in advance as possible, because they've been known to run out of cars before!
