This lovely Tropical Victorian Hawaiian style home is bright and airy; designed to accommodate indoor/outdoor living in its entire tropical splendor. Enjoy the spectacular 360° breathtaking view of the entire Kealakekua Bay including the Captain Cook Monument from the roof top balcony (lani), which runs the full length of the home and is partially covered.
Enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sun slip into the ocean: gaze at the stars and planets in the clear heavens at night: or enjoy a cup of coffee as you watch the sun rise. Listen to the sound of the waves, watch the dolphins swim in the bay, experience a close up view of some of the beautiful birds of Hawaii from up high (the rooftop lanais) where they live in surrounding trees and bushes, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Kealakekua bay features world class snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming and kayaking.
This lovely home is ideal for any occasion; such as family reunions, weddings, retreats, workshops or just enjoying paradise with friends and family, or maybe indulging in peace and quiet all by your self!. Our home is located steps away from the beach and pier.
HALE E KOMO MAI is a tropical haven for travelers seeking relaxation in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. It is located on Kealakekua Bay - a 315 acre underwater state park and marine reserve teeming with tropical fish on the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The crystal clear waters and protected reefs attract snorkeling and scuba enthusiasts from around the world. Dolphins visit the bay frequently and humpback whales pass by on their way to calving grounds in Maui. Napo'opo'o is a very peaceful Hawaiian village rich with historical sites such as the ancient Hikiau Heiau (temple) and across the bay is the monument to Captain Cook on the site he was killed in 1778. .

Maile Kai (lower suite) – One bedroom with queen size bed and full on- suite bathroom with shower. The Maile Kai has a living room/kitchen that is set up with a single bed and sitting area (see amenities for more details) and a kitchen with dining area. The lower suite also has a front balcony and access to the back shared bathroom that is equipped with a washer and dryer, toilet, basin and a second double shower that is perfect to rinse off in after a swim in the bay, as well as the rooftop lanais.
Loke Lani (upper suite) has a bedroom/living room that has a queen sized bed and sitting area (see amenities for more details). It also has a double bed in a separate private alcove. The Loke Lani has a full bathroom with shower and a charming full kitchen on the covered outside lanai. This suite also features a full balcony that runs around the whole floor. This suite features indoor and outdoor living to the utmost. This suite has access to the back room that is equipped with a washer and dryer, toilet, basin, and a second double shower that is perfect to rinse off in after a swim in the bay as well as the rooftop lanais.
Both suites share the rooftop lanai (porch) and backyard garden which includes use of a Webber barbeque.

Activities (on site or nearby): Dolphin Viewing from our deck, visit the beach with Local Crafts and Souvenirs, or the "Place of Refuge" - historical heritage site; Active Volcano watching in Hawaiian Volcano National Park, Orchid and Antherium garden touring near Hilo, "Luau" Hawaiian Feasts with Hawaiian entertainment, Hula Festivals and Hawaiian Entertainment. Sunning, Rock Climbing, Racquetball, Fitness Center, Gym, Miniature golf, Live Theater, Cinemas, Museums, Sightseeing, Snorkeling Waterskiing, Windsurfing, Parasailing, Shelling, Volcano 2 hrs. Observe the Red hot lava after dark and still have time to get home at a reasonable hour. Close enough to go on a helicopter flight to view our spectacular island, including the volcano--many other activities. We are centrally located on the island, so day trips to any activity is easy -- even a trip around the island is very do-able.
