You might be making reservations for Kehena Bungalow Treehouse for only 3 days, but you’ll wish you had made them for much longer!
Kehena Bungalow Treehouse is located on the famous “Red Road”, which is one of the most beautiful and historic drives in the state of Hawaii. Along this road you can see lava flows, incredible Big Blue ocean vistas, and in season, whales. You’ll be only a block from the Big Blue Pacific Ocean, and a very short walk to the Black Sands Beach (clothing optional) where you can actually swim with dolphins. You can stroll down anytime you’d like and enjoy one of the few true beaches in the Puna District of the Big Island. Just a 5 minute drive from the Bungalow is where the 1990 lava flow took over the village of Kalapana and to this day is forming a brand new black sand beach that you can hike to. Once you have done that, then definitely stay and have lunch at Verna’s local drive in where the grinds are ono good! In the opposite direction on the Red Road, about 15 minutes away, is the wonderful Kapoho area where swimming and snorkeling are incredible. On the way to the Kapoho tide pools you might also choose to stop and enjoy the Ahalanui Warm Spring Park, where 90 degree geothermally heated waters at the oceans edge are available for year-round relaxation. In addition, for those interested in surfing, nearby Mackenzie State Park and Isaac Hale Beach Park are great spots to watch the locals ride the waves.
This home has been completely remodeled from top to bottom, and is new inside and out. You’re going to enjoy the beautifully refinished hardwood floors and the fresh new décor. Kehena Treehouse is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the traditional vacation areas, so forget about having to fight traffic and congestion with other visitors. You’ll be on the edge of the world in Paradise when you visit Kehena.
When you’re not out enjoying the beauty and experiences of the Big Island, you’ll enjoy staying “home” and lounging on the lanai in the hammock, or just sitting at the table reading a good book. You’ll be surrounded by lush foliage, and you’ll truly know that you are in a special place in the world. And, don’t forget, the historic 1800's village of Pahoa is just a 15 minute drive away, where you can enjoy the bi-weekly farmers market as well as quaint shops and some of Puna's best Italian, Mexican, and Thai cuisine. If you wish to explore further, Hilo and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park are also easily accessible within 40 to 50 minutes.
When you come in from the beach with sand from head to toe, just shower off in the outdoor shower. You’ve got it all in Paradise! This home with its 1 large bedroom is perfect for a couple or there is additional sleeping on the large futon sofa in the living room.
