Every year my husband and I head to Montreal with some other couples for a winter weekend getaway without the kids. In the past we always stayed at the Marriott Chateau Champlaine because of its central location but after a friend from Vancouver recommended Les Bons Matins we decided to give this B&B a try this February. What a fantastic change we made and now we will frequent this B&B instead of a hotel.
Located just minutes from Crescent and Ste. Catherine (by foot) this B&B is very central to downtown Montreal which means you can walk to any number of fabulous restaurants, bars, and shops. While the location is great, the real charm of Les Bons Matins is the B&B itself. It is an inviting and comfortable place with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are extremely clean and well maintained and the breakfasts are just as good, if not better, as all the other reviewers state.
While no one in my party was affected by disturbing or loud noise, you can hear creaks and footsteps when other guests move along the hallways and stairs since the rooms have hardwood floors and are situated in beautiful older buildings. So anyone with hyper sensitive hearing or an aversion to listening to any human movement that creates sound may want to bring earplugs but to anyone else it is simply ambient household noise that is easily ignored.
We had a great time at Les Bons Matins and would definitely recommend it to others. From the reception area with free internet access and complimentary drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to the delicious breads, croissants, pastries, eggs and fresh fruit (including freshly squeezed orange juice) served at breakfast to the romantic rooms with working fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs and extremely comfortable beds and linens this place is truly a romantic getaway situated in the heart of downtown Montreal.
