One of our signature properties, the Bayberry Cottage is located in the heart of one of Maine’s most beautiful areas- Cushing. This exquisite 4 bedroom cape is a beautifully appointed waterfront home with views of the Saint George River and Penobscot Bay from almost every room. Take a "winter" virtual tour of the property - please remember, this tour was made in the winter, so try and imagine it green when summer comes.
This property is well designed to support large events, such as weddings and other outdoor parties. Is there a better backdrop for a wedding than a spectacular pier and dock leading out into to the St George River? A wonderful private Maine rocky beach below would also make a great spot for a couple to share their nuptials.
Located conveniently in the Midcoast area, the Bayberry Cottage offers the best opportunity for a vacation retreat. Relax in the stately cottage’s comfortable rooms that are appropriately decorated in antiques with a nautical flair. The wicker screened-in sun porch is a comfortable place for evening cocktails and has a painted compass rose on the floor reminding you of the ever present allure of the sea. Travel outside to the open patio/deck which supports a great perch from which to watch the lobster boats traveling by while enjoying your morning coffee.
A beautiful English garden separates the house from the ocean. The new pier built in 2006 offers a good place to dock a large vessel if needed, or provides a perfect spot for launching some of the kayaks available to rent with the property. As a private dock – it is all yours to enjoy!
As you approach the home from the winding dirt road, you can’t help but notice how private the property’s location is. There is ample parking in front of the house, and a garage located off to the left. There is a great staging area for caterers to facilitate their event from.
As you enter the front door of the house, you can turn to the left and enter the comfortable library that has a feeling of the best rooms you have seen in a Pottery Barn catalog. Enjoy the window seat to curl up and read your favorite book, or open it to reveal many games to enjoy with family and friends in the evening.
To the right of the entry is the living room with a wood-fired fireplace. This large gathering area is a great room for socializing, and a TV with a DVD player is available to catch up on the day’s news or to watch a movie on a rainy night.
From the living room, the dining room separates the outside patio/deck and the kitchen. The spacious kitchen is well-stocked with all the tools necessary to prepare a spectacular meal. The owners of this house love to cook, and have gone to great lengths to ensure their guests have the same opportunities to prepare a meal that they enjoy. A laundry room and half bath are accessible off of the kitchen.
Upstairs, the large king-sized master bedroom has beautiful views of the bay. You have to walk through the the Master bedroom to get to a fourth, queen-sized bedroom. These two rooms enjoy and share a full bath with stall shower. On the other side of the house upstairs are two bedrooms, each with queen sized beds. These two rooms access a full-sized tub/shower bath from the hallway. All the beds in the house are supported by beautiful antique bed frames and very comfortable linens.
