Property Information
Just completed in mid-2007, Balance sits upon a green hillside overlooking an ocean panorama encompassing Fish Bay below and St. Croix in the far distance. Built in native stonework and brick inlaid with seashells in traditional St. John style, and capped with a sage-green tiled roof, this sophisticated two-level residence is artfully designed to take advantage of cool tradewinds and the inspiring sweep of sea views which it commands.
Crossing Balance's tiled pool courtyard graced with palm trees, you're welcomed by oversized doors into Balance's main level. This level consists of the Great Room and dining area, as well as a spacious gourmet kitchen with custom concrete counters, mahogany-veneered cabinetry and breakfast bar. Off the kitchen you'll find a powder room and a king bedroom/bath suite. Just outside the Great Room is a covered terrace, pleasingly colonnaded and equipped with a gas grill and dry bar built into custom stonework. The terrace is the perfect shady spot for reading or admiring the view. The terrace expands onto the sunny pool courtyard, where there's ample space for sunbathing and a refreshing dip in the sparkling pool fed by a waterfall.
Back inside the villa, a staircase ascends to Balance's upper floor and to the second king bedroom/bath suite. At the top of the landing is a curtained alcove with a two-twin trundle bed (which converts into a third king bed with your advance request). Glass slider doors open from this alcove to an ocean-facing verandas shared by the upper king suite, providing convenient access to the pergola-topped alfresco shower without disturbing the suite's guests. Both of Balance's air-conditioned, equally-sized bedroom/bath suites have flat screen TVs, with each suite featuring two showers - one an indoor tiled shower, and through the glass slider door to the outside, a natural stone and brick shower, alfresco, built with half walls beautifully framing the natural surroundings and a magnificent sea view.
Mahogany furnishings complement the island ambience of Balance, and are mixed with a few carefully-chosen antique pieces from the owners' collection. Rich fabrics, saltillo tiles and accents of dark lustrous metals enhance the interiors. The shell-accented stone and brick facades anchor this beautifully-executed home to its peaceful setting. The natural elements employed within Balance, its clean lines and its nod to traditional West Indian design all impart breathtaking elegance to this superb villa. A sunny day lazing by the pool, cocktails on the shady terrace as the sky and sea below are painted with sunset's vivid colors, an intimate dinner shared with family or friends topped with a bit of stargazing will all endear you to the charm and natural beauty of Balance. You'll surely want to return again and again to this tranquil Caribbean haven - very highly recommended.
