Property Information
PI01 - Perlina - The area around Lake Orta has long been a favorite tourists, thanks to the quiet beauty of the landscape, its fascinating history and its wealth of artistic treasures - principally Romanesque and Baroque architecture. Lake Orta lies to the west of Lake Maggiore, in the northern Italy. It is a minor star in the costellation of the subalpine lakes, but all the fascination and the history of the larger lakes seem to be concentrated in this short space.
Perlina is a picturesque cozy cottage with private dock, manicured lawns and a view that only a few houses have to offer. Outside is a furnished patio and a lovely garden. The views are simply incredible with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains, San Giulio Island and the azure blue lake with white sailing boats. The boat club is quite close to Perlina. Here you can hire boats or have your own boat brought into the water and anchored. The cottage is situated near Orta S. Giulio where there are a wide range of shops and restaurants.
Lake Orta has long been the destination of poets, artists and writers. Orta San Giulio is a charming medieval village on the shores of Lake Orta with wonderful palaces and winding streets that lead to the ancient square facing the lake. Here you will find the 16th century palace Palazzo della Comunità (also known as “Il Palazzotto”), once the seat of the lake authorities "Consiglio della Riviera", with its wide lower porch supporting the single~hall upper floor. It really is a kind of social meeting point in Orta, from where you enjoy an unforgettable view of the Island of San Giulio. San Giulio Island is the residence of a convent of nuns belonging to an enclosed order. On the island there is the Basilica of San Giulio, richly decorated with frescoes.
The entrance to this home is reached is from the rear garden by a short set of steps. Once you open the door, you enter a sunny pastel living room with a large, open fireplace. A dining area seats eight and offers a panoramic view of the lake as well as access to the garden. Beyond the living room is a small but fully equipped kitchen. There are also two bedrooms on this level: a double bedroom and a small twin bedroom that have lake views. Please note that this twin bedroom has two single beds that are placed end to end along the wall and cannot be joined together to make a double. The two bedrooms share a bathroom with tub.
ANNEX - This room is attached to the house but does not have an interior staircase. An exterior door from the garden opens up to a large living room and small second kitchen and a bathroom with shower. This room is a perfect extension of the outdoor patio and gardens and you will find yourself spending a lot of time here when enjoying the outdoors. A large expansive lawn leads dow to the lake front, and for 2008 will include a swimming pool.
A boat club is next door and offers a pretty view of boats of all types anchored in the water. You can also rent your own boat for the day.

An extra bed to accommodate a fifth person can be put in the annex. This is by permission of the owner only and provided the fifth person is a child not older than eight years of age. This room is described as a second living room and does not have internal access to the main house.
Please note that the back of the house is off of the main road that runs along the lake. There is some noise from the traffic.
