Property Information
A thousand feet above Jackson, the snowy Tetons tower like emissaries of the sky over the resort community of Spring Creek. Spring Creek Mountain Lodge is here - a spacious log and stone house set in the grassy hills above the valley, built by an architect for his family. A heavy mahogany front door opens to the upper floor, where the main living area spreads out in all directions. A hand-crafted wood divider separates the front entry from the kitchen, where 20 silver pendant lights shine like stars over the polished stone countertops. Farther along is a library, an office, a dining room seating six in rustic wood chairs, overhung by an iron chandelier. Each room has its own celestial view of mountains and meadows.
The living room is crowned by a beamed ceiling and walled with windows: glass doors open to a robust, wrap-around log porch with a gas grill and outdoor dining area. The transition between the living room and porch is so subtle that the two spaces seem almost one. Inside, there is a grand piano, a stone fireplace, thick carpets scattered over the polished wood floors, and armchairs pulled up by the windows just for gazing out at the land.
The elegant master bedroom is also on the main floor, separated from the library and office by a traditional log wall. An antique, painted armoire and a vivid Oriental rug on the floor catch the blues of the sky outside, the russet of the woods. An oil painting on one wall seems to open a window to the wide Wyoming wilderness; and, out on the master bedroom's private deck, the breathtaking scenery is real. The master bathroom is a stone-tiled enclave, furnished with a deep soaking tub, a large glass shower and a dressing table.
The lower level of Spring Creek Mountain Lodge is a rich combination of stone floors, beamed ceilings and thick log walls. Three guest bedrooms - with rustic furnishings and colorful bedspreads - are grouped around a living room, a library, a bar and a full bath. One bedroom has a door to the outside; the others have wide windows that frame the Grand Tetons. On the lower level, there is a home theatre, with a deep, sectional couch and surround sound, and a small workout room with gigantic views. Spring Creek shares the mountainside with a wildlife sanctuary and the famed Amangani resort. It is a quiet, private, and serene retreat, and yet is only minutes from the ski slopes and the town of Jackson. |
