Property Information
Shane Cabin is a rare and charming three bedroom house made of logs and antique barn wood. Built half a century ago, and named for the 1953 Hollywood movie, it has been completely updated into a luxurious and modern refuge. The sumptuous, rustic decor of Shane Cabin evokes the Adirondack Great Camp Era: stained bead board walls, gorgeous hand-built antiques, twig furniture, rich fabrics, and fine oil paintings abound. A two sided stone fireplace divides the spacious living room into two, while an enormous moose head surveys the sitting area and a canoe hangs from the arched wood ceiling.
This is a house of lovely, comfortable proportions, and the dazzling, snowy mountains are visible from every room. Inside the cabin, there are smooth floors of stone and hardwood. One bedroom - with a twig bed, wood stove and breathtaking views - and bathroom are located on the main floor, as is a laundry room. A rustic, bark-covered stair rail leads downstairs to a cozy master bedroom suite with a sitting room, bathroom, and sightlines both east and west.
The well-equipped kitchen was floored with fossils, and is a wonderful combination of rustic and progressive. Its bead board ceiling and cheerful cloth curtains contrast nicely with the smooth stone countertop and high-end appliances. The kitchen also has its own deck facing the magnificent Tetons. At the other side of the house, a spiral stone staircase leads down to the third guest bedroom, charming and comfortable, with twin beds and a private bathroom. Outside is a broad terrace, where Adirondack chairs surround a stone firepit.
Shane Cabin is set in a true Western wilderness, a vast open valley between the Sleeping Indian range and the towering Grand Tetons. Buffalo, elk, antelope, coyote, moose and the occasional wolf traverse the long, wild valley outside the windows.
The owners have collected a wonderful array of Western art and artifacts that serve to center Shane cabin in its era and environment. And right outside the door is the great wide valley and the breathtaking Tetons, with hiking and ski trails winding away into the wilderness.
Shane Cabin's two-acre fenced property, part of a small cluster of houses in Antelope Flats, abuts scenic national parkland. Just 10 minutes from the Grand Teton National Park entrance, and only seven minutes from Dornan's - a hub of activities, restaurants and sports equipment rentals. Shane Cabin is a vintage treasure and a truly delightful home.
