to Manzanillo International Airport, which is a 30 minute drive to our villa.
If you wish, plan to spend a day or two in Guadalajara and/or Mexico City
on the way or returning - it'll break up the trip and make it more
interesting. You can use American Airlines mileage on Alaska Air (from
Los Angeles).
Many travel agents are not familiar with the nuances of getting to
Manzanillo -- including feeder airlines. Therefore, feel free to discuss
with us, as we may be able to provide helpful hints.

I want to thank you for all your help and kind attention to detail. With the
exception of my honeymoon (which was special for the obvious reason),
Palace By The Sea was hands down, no contest, the best vacation I've ever
been on. My entire family feels the same way. If there is such a thing as
perfect, this was it. The house was beyond compare, the staff was
exceptional, and the personal touches from both Howie and yourself
made us feel right at home. The phone call from Howie checking to see if
we all made it there and if there was anything he could to improve our
stay really shows how much you care about your guests and their
enjoyment. I took the liberty of sharing my experience with a good friend
of mine, Jay Eshbach and he emailed me and said he thought they were
going to book some time there, probably next summer. I had such a
good time we are thinking about coming back next year. If you get a

Hi Sonja,
We all had such a relaxing time. You've named the villa aptly "Palace by
the Sea". Your staff Jose, Anna, Nirma, Veronica and Ruby the babysitter
were all very accommodating and very professional. We were so
comfortable we hardly left the Palace. The only time we went out to
dinner was Friday night (my birthday) and the food did not even compare
to Nirma's cooking!! We also did have Licho and Cecelia come every day.
We all had a grand time. I hope to be able to come back again!!

We felt like royalty as your staff greeted us with margaritas both adult
and child. The first night champagne was such a wonderful touch our
dinner and champagne toasts confirmed we were off to an unbeatable
week.
Not being one to sit still long, I found that at your villa I was able to do
so. The ambiance was very soothing and the time spent reading, playing
with my children, relaxing, etc., was most needed. We had a spa day with
pedicures, manicures, massages, hair braiding; we golfed, we dove, we
beached, we tanned, we basked, we fished.
Jean Pierre, Jose, Anna, Veronica, the rest were tremendous. Jose dined
with us one night (the night off for others) after we took over the kitchen
and made our own fish stew.
Our children had the most fun, and demand a return trip. All in all, we
were most blessed by our trip to your Palace.

Your home was everything I had expected. My family and I had a great
week, relaxing by the pool, playing tennis and enjoying the 5 star beach.
Your staff was exceptional. They paid attention to every detail. Their
service made it very difficult to leave. The use of the Suburban and the
curb side delivery made travel simple and enjoyable. The Golf Cart was a
big hit with us all. We used it every day. The kids had fun every time we
went to and from the beach. They like just going for rides.

Peirre was helpful in lining out a trip to Colima. We had a guide named
Ezekeil and he spoke very good english. Our group played golf at three
courses and I must tell you that the course named El Tamirindo was the
most beautiful golf course that I have ever seen. You experience
jungle,mountains and ocean all on the same course. It is truly incredible.
The new Surburban was also a very nice bonus. You have anticipated our
every need and you are doing a great job. We have begun planning our
return trip asap.

I cant begin to tell you how delighted we were with the house and staff.
We had a wonderful week of doing absolutely nothing and enjoying every
minute of it. The pictures and video portray a beautiful house. However,
they just can't do it justice until one experiences it first hand. And you
could not ask for a better, warmer staff.
As far as telephone use goes, I really don't think that we made more than
six or seven calls probably totaling less than 20 - 30 minutes. I think
that there were two faxes received and maybe one outgoing. There were
probably two or three calls to NY, and a like amount to Chicago.
Please let Howie and Frankie know that we had a wonderful time and will
recommend the Palace to others. We are already talking about possibly
booking it again for next year.

Our trip to the palace was fabulous. You are so fortunate to have such a
competent and gracious staff. Having seen the property, I already knew
how beautiful it was. But I couldn't foresee how wonderful the staff would
be, and food was to die for. We had a ball. My guests were in awe! I
would love to respond to your survey questions, but once again, I cannot
open the document. If you fax it to me, I will fax it back. 970-.
As far as the phone bills go, the phone was used a lot. I lost track of
what was incoming and what was outgoing. So to be safe, I guess you
should wait for the bill to return our deposit. My best guess is $2-300. I
would like a copy of the bill so I can charge my guests that used it so
much.

birthday party at Palace by the Sea. Also, the mariachis were great.

Manzanillo and found it to be a surprisingly good newspaper. Of course

thoroughly enjoyed the house, the views, the culture, the weather,
everything!
Our children were never bored. They of course used the pool and beach
extensively, but we also went snorkeling, some of us went deep sea
fishing and our 15 year old son caught (with dad's assistance) two
sailfish! One day we went to Cuyatlan to play in the big waves, and some
of us went to Barra Navidad. In the evenings, Scrabble was the preferred
game and more than one night we played in teams (one child and one
adult).
Your staff was wonderful and we truly enjoyed all the Mexican food.

Hi Sonja,
Well let me start by saying the house was great, we all loved it. The staff
was very we welcoming and warm. Jose helped us with anything we
needed. Just thought you would like to know. The girls caught 3 tuna the
first day, which we ate and gave the rest to the staff. The next day,
Angelo caught a sailfish which he is going to have stuffed and mailed to
him. He gave the meat to the captains families. It was beautiful and we
were all proud of him. Also so many dolphins were racing our boat and
jumping out of the water, it was the most amazing thing I think any of us
experienced.We also went scuba diving twice which was lots of fun.

us to any desired destination and always prompt for pick-up. Each
morning, or the evening before, Jose would ask us about the menu for the
next day. This system was excellent and without flaw. He is an absolute
delight and we all got to know him well and appreciated his very hard
work that he made look so easy. His English was very good and we were
able to learn a bit of Spanish (my 6 year old by mistake said "Hola!" to a
shop keeper yesterday in California...
>Lourdes was an absolutely fabulous chef and cook. Every meal she
cooked was fabulous and greatly appreciated by her ravished guests !!!
We can't rave enough about Lourdes. And, as an entertainer myself, I
must comment on the beautiful place settings for each meal. Every single
meal had varying placemats, linens and napkin rings. We all loved this
particular touch (even the men !) and looked forward to see what they
would "pull out of the cupboard next !!!". Although we ate dinner out on
two evenings, we all agreed that Lourdes' feasts were superior !!! Maybe
next time we'll cook a few nights for Jose and Lourdes !!!!
>Ana was always close by to take care of every need. I can't tell you how
many times I was intercepted by Ana while I was on my way to the kitchen
with dirty dishes. I had to "make a run for it" while she wasn't looking
just to return my breakfast dishes to the sink !! Our rooms were always
spotless and well maintained. Laundry was always promptly and neatly
folded. Ana was so sweet and such a delight ! Her smile could light up a
room.
>Irma was just as diligent and professional. Ditto for all of the comments
above !!!
>The Internet connection was perfect. We were able to keep in contact
with our offices and reply to E-Mails. I'm sure we'll owe money for the
phone line use. We were sure to log off after our use each time.

Dear Howie and Sonja,
I want to thank you on behalf of my family for your part in creating a
special vacation for us. We all had a wonderful time and were
appreciative of your efforts and the efforts of the staff you had at the
house. Your phone call to us on Sunday and even a bottle of champagne
were certainly not expected but were appreciated.
Jose especially went out of his way to meet every request that we had.
Additionally, Miguel (the head gardener at the beach club) and I took
kayaks out into the ocean for about an hour. I enjoyed the outing with
him also - something you may want to pass on to future guests.

We loved our stay at your house. It was exactly what I needed. The staff
was great and Lourdes was fantastic. I think I gained 10 pounds on the
trip. Savanna, my 3 year old daughter, was so sad to go. She really loved
Hose and all the ladies. We totally checked out of our busy lives and I
didn't make any calls. In fact, I didn't even leave a number so people
couldn't find me. I don't know if we broke anything. It_s hard to tell with
2 small children. But if we did, please deduct it from the security. Oh, I
listened to your CD that you made and I thought it was great. I was an
aspiring musician in my early years but I got tired of only being able to
afford cheese sandwiches. Thank you for allowing us to come to your
Palace.

All in all, they simply loved the villa. They became especially fond of Jose
and Lourdes. As I predicted, within five minutes at the villa, the request to
remain came. Lorraine Bracco had such puppy eyes.

Everyone should have the opportunity in their lifetime to visit Paris in the
springtime, see Disneyland through the eyes of a child, and experience
the Palace by the Sea. Our expectations were exceeded when we treated
ourselves to this remarkable and most unique villa. The home is both
elegant and comfortable with a staff that is friendly and competent.
Name an activity we would want on vacation (tennis, golf, in-home
movies, swimming, boating...) and it was there. We couldn't find a better

My wife and I recently married and honeymooned at the Alper house and
cannot describe the beauty and serenity it has to offer. No pictures do it
proper justice, no words can begin to suffice. Their chef (to die for...)
along with her husband and the other staff went out of their way to make
us feel comfortable and were never once intrusive on our privacy. We
could not imagine a more satisfying vacation.
We highly recommend Palacio en el Mar to anyone who wishes to see
"how the other half lives". Just don't stay too long, you might forget how
to care for yourself !!

Dear Mr. Alper:
The moment you pass through the gates of La Punta you know that you
have entered a very special world and that you are among a privileged
few. As you drive past home after home, one more beautifully set than
the last, you continue to wonder where it will all end.
The vistas along the way, the golf courses, the club and the magnificent
white domed spiral roofs of Las Hadas are all part of the passage to a
wonderland you still are yet to see.
And there to the left is Howie and Frankie Alper_s Villa on the Sea. You
leave your vehicle and descend the wide white stairs to the large wood
carved doors that lead to a private paradise.
Once inside, the two winding marble stairways lead to a wide expanse of
living room that matches the lavishness of a great greeting hall of an
opulent Hong Kong Hotel. All of this is backgrounded by an unmatched
view of the ocean. As you listen to the crescendo of waves hitting the
rocks of the shoreline you try to take it all in. The House staff is there to
welcome you with smiles and margaritas. Spotless, awesome, lavish, and
bright, this is where you will spend your days in vacation and splendor.
Each room is a suite with built in molded beds, gorgeous views of the sea,
and the bright tapestry of the country. What should you take in first,
what should be your first journey? Should you take a dip in the pool that
disappears over the side of the cliff, should you soak in the heated
Jacuzzi, perhaps a drink and a snack of homemade guacamole or salsa.
In the morning the trainer arrives, followed by the manicurist, and then
the masseuse. The water activities afforded at the hotel, (walking
distance) offers, scuba, sailing, snorkeling, etc.
Everything is done in the best of taste, and you wonder why anyone
would leave to go anywhere. Dining is outdoors at a wonderful marble
table overlooking a magnificent jutting rock island that glistens in the
moonlight of the evening. Isn_t this the villa that was named number one
in the world by Robin Leach in Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? Yes, you
say to your friends, it is also the famed villa where 26 episodes of a
Playboy Special Series was filmed.
Tennis courts, golf courses and boating are mere footprints away. No
one misses any of the meals, one better then the next. The
entertainment room and office facilities are the best of their kind and
business or fun is at hand for whatever your pleasure and needs require.
The evening breeze and sweet smell of local flowers drift by as you swing
into bed, remembering an unforgettable day and looking forward to
whatever surprise the next day might bring. It is a vacation of a lifetime,
made to share with family and friends, or with that important business
contact who will never forget your wonderful castle by the sea.
