This is to place to visit if you are in need of a complete rest, without any distractions.
The beaches are close by.
In the morning you see the sun come up around 6 AM and at night you can hear the silence fall over the place when the sun sets and everything gets real quit, before the night falls around 6:30 PM.
This makes for a very long day.
If you don't feel to cook, there is a nice hotel with a restaurant nearby and there are a few local places around.
The closest towns are Sangre Grande, or Valencia.
A litlle farther down the road is Arima.
But in general after a day on the Beach or some hiking, the best thing to do is just stay home, make yourself a beverage and read that book you always wanted to read, but did not have the time for.
The place is ideal for a family with kids.
It gives you the time to spend all day with them and play the games you bought over the years.
Here is your chance to actually use them.
If you come to the place in March or April you might get a chance to see the giant Sea Turtles that come to lay their eggs around that time of the year on the beach by Trinco Bay (at night) which is one beach down from Balandra Beach.
You also have a hiking trail in the mountains around there.
If you like to go biking it is just the place where you can do that.
If you go north, you will eventually reach Togo and the beach there. Which is the most northern point of the Island.
Togo is a fishing village.
In order to get around you need to have a car, because the place is out of the main stream.
Last but not least, you are in that part of the Island with the Rain Forest, the same Rain Forest that extends into South America.
Trinidad was once part of that continent, before time made it an Island.
Trinidad has also one of the finest bird sanctuary's.
It has mountains which protect it from huricanes and bad storms.
The rainy season is in the winter month. But the rain does not last long in general and is often at night.
But it is the nicer time of the year with low humidity and pleasent weather. Average temperature during the winter time: 85-95 Farenheit.
The summer time is hotter and more humid.
You should have little rain during that time.
Average temperature durind those month:
90-100 degrees Farenheit.
If rest, relaxation and family are your main objective for a vacation, this is the place where you can do it all.
