Discover the old Bahamian charm of Eleuthera in this beautiful, stone house - Hibiscus House of Wykee Estates. The estate was built by Sir Roland Symonette, the first prime minister of the Bahamas, in the 1930’s. The resort hideaway includes the Manor House and six stone cottages tucked in 80 acres of lush tropical gardens joined with a secluded pink sand beach.
While keeping its lovely French doors and windows, the old stone cottage has been recently redecorated. It has a fantastic wrap-around screened porch furnished in redone vintage rattan for dining, relaxing or just enjoying the great view. The floors are now beautiful, cool, glazed tiles. The furniture is updated with fabrics in bright, Caribbean colors.
The master bedroom with a new queen-size bed opens to the airy porch and a view of the ocean. The second bedroom with two new twin beds is decorated in yellows and blues. There are two renovated bathrooms. The house includes a great living room with ten + foot ceilings and a fireplace. There is also a fully equipped, kitchen, newly renovated in 2000, with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, small appliances, dishes, utensils, and a washing machine. There is a large separate dining room. The house has ceiling fans in every room along with central air conditioning.
