    Property Activities
Niagara-on-the-Lake is a year round tourist destination. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities and places of interest providing an enjoyable holiday experience over several days.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is home to The Shaw Festival, one of North Americas renowned and prestigious theatre companies. The Shaw specializes in the plays of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries. Festival productions are presented in the three town centre theatres from April through to November.

Situated at the mouth of the Niagara River, the town enjoys a favourable micro-climate that has made Niagara Canada's foremost wine producing area. The many wineries are open for tours and tastings. Most of the wineries have boutiques and restaurants and one or two also have cooking schools.

The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake has played a key role in Canadian history and has many points of historical interest to visit. Fort George, built in 1792, The Apothecary, from 1866, and the Historical Museum are all in the town and are just a few of the local attractions that may appeal to history buffs.

The scenic beauty of Niagara Falls and its tourist attractions, Butterfly Conservatory, and Casino Niagara, are within a few miles of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Also within easy reach is the Welland Canal where visitors can watch ocean freighters negotiate the lock system between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.

Niagara-on-the-Lake offers the shopper a delightful mix of speciality shops, galleries and boutiques all within easy walking distance our heritage homes. There are also several antique shops within a pleasant drive of the town centre, and larger shopping centres and malls nearby in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.

Sporting facilities include North America's oldest golf course, in the town centre, and a superb bicycle path extending along the Niagara River gorge from the town centre to the edge of Niagara Falls.

Winter in Niagara-on-the-Lake brings a new array of activities for visitors. Seasonal festivities get under way with the Candlelight Stroll through the historic town centre held on the first Friday in December, followed the next day by a Christmas Emporium for shopping. On the second Saturday in December Santa comes to town as a guest of honour at Niagara-on-the-Lake's very own Santa Clause Parade. Ring in the New Year dining in one of the towns fine restaurants or taverns and let the celebrations continue in January at the Ice wine Festival at the local wineries. Shake off the February blues over the three weekends of Days of Wine and Roses featuring the best of the regions wind and food products.

In the town centre, historic houses, parks, the lake, the river, horse drawn carriages, breathtaking floral displays, all contribute to the unique charm and atmosphere of Niagara-on-the-Lake. A great place for an unforgettable holiday break at any time of the year.
