Property Description
Riverhouse at Meadow Landing is a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath and 2 half-bath cabin located on the South Fork of the New River in Todd. It’s very convenient to Boone and West Jefferson (20-minute drive) and has easy access year round. The location is on the east side of the High Country (10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway) so from Charlotte and Raleigh and points east you don’t have to fight town traffic to get here once you get to the top of the mountain.
So, here’s what you’ll find when you walk in the door: foyer opens to the big open kitchen that is fully equipped and has lots of counter space and eat-in bar with two stools. You’ve got an open floor plan to the living area with two pull-out couches, recliner and additional seating. Living room has a flatscreen satellite TV mounted above the gas-log fireplace and a big bank of windows looking out over the river and mountains beyond. There’s also a dining area with table and seating for six. Off the living room area, there’s a half-bath/laundry area combo. You also have the first bedroom (king bed) and second bedroom (full size bed) which share a Jack and Jill bath that is located between them.
Stairs from the living area will take you to the lower level where you will find a second, smaller kitchen, sitting area with card table and futon, full bath, a second half-bath and an oversized third bedroom (1 full bed and two twin beds).
The property has DSL Wi-Fi internet so you can surf or grab your emails and a collection of board games stowed in the second upstairs bedroom and the downstairs sitting area for rainy days or late evenings. A second TV with DVD player is also in the downstairs sitting area.
Now, for the outside. There’s a small covered porch at the main entrance and off the river side of the cabin you have two decks. Upper deck is large and open with a gas grill. Second deck beneath, accessible by steps or from lower level, is covered. Lots of lawn – almost an acre and it’s almost all flat! Great for a cookout and a tossing around a football!

Cool Area Information:
*10 minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
*20 minutes from Boone and Appalachian State University. There's always some event going on in Boone which has a growing collection of really good independent (and organic) restaurants and lots of diverse cultural events at ASU.
*20 minutes from West Jefferson which is coming alive with lots of cool art galleries and some really great restaurants. Be sure to checkout the Ashe County Cheese Factory, NC's only cheese factory.
*Farmer's Markets in Boone and West Jefferson are super popular and which offers the best of the growing organic culture in the mountains.
*Multiple state parks - Mt.Jefferson, Elk Knob, Grandfather Mountain, New River - within a short drive.

The cabin was clean. It's location is very convenient to Boone and the roads were very easy to drive on. It has nice view of the creek out the back. The downstairs quarters were perfect for our adult sons. There was lots of room to have family over for a meal. We enjoyed our weekend in the cabin.

This Home & Area is absolutely beautiful. Right on the New River so you're able to enjoy a relaxing 2hr tube ride down from the Todd park, best part is you end up right back at your house! The home is spacious, clean and stocked with everything you need & more. The one thing I wish it had was better river access. Other than that it was perfect!

We went with our kids and another family to do some skiing. This cabin was perfect for the 8 of us - 4 adults 4 kids and 2 pups. Lots of space. Fun amenities and so peaceful. I would definitely return.

We loved the house. the kitchen super well equipment , sheets and blankets for all and entertainment for all family. Excellent location for those interested in the mountains, spacious house for the whole family, the place is beautiful . Entertainment games for the whole family. We were 4 families and we were all happy. I would rent it again. I recommended it 100%.”
CLEAN, SPACIOUS, FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD RENTAL

This is the third time my family has stayed at this property. The housekeeping is to be commended because this is one of the cleanest properties we have stayed at. Love the open floor plan, and a quiet, friendly neighborhood. We also enjoy the close proximity to Boone, West Jefferson, and Blowing Rock. New construction going on right beside the master bedroom, but the noise was not bad. The mattress in the master bedroom does need replacing in my opinion (very firm and "lumpy" in a few places), but the full-size mattress in other bedrooms are comfortable according to my family. Kitchen is well equipped for the most part. We did have to purchase muffin tins and a small baking pan for brownies. There was also starter paper towels and toilet paper (and one extra roll of toilet paper in the bathrooms) so that was nice. Also, love having an ice maker in the fridge. The main TV has limited channels (DirectTV) with lots of infomercials. We could not find the remote to the TV/DVD player in the bedroom. We were expecting firewood to be available in the basement per the rental description, but there was none, so no S'Mores for us. The TV was not working when we arrived, but a call to High Country Rentals was successful in figuring out the problem, and the service was friendly and accommodating. I'm sure they would have taken care of the firewood for us had we called. Love the number of bathrooms (4 toilets) and the property is well maintained with a large backyard that leads to the New River. It always feels like home when we stay here and look forward to renting again.
SPACIOUS, MODERN ACCOMMODATIONS

The house worked out great for our family reunion. It is very roomy and slept 10 comfortably. We really liked the open floor plan. We also really enjoyed the yard and neighborhood for walks as well. The only downside on our stay was having to leave a day early because of river flooding which renders the bridge to the neighborhood impassable. We were reimbursed for the day though.

I live in the area, but due to incomplete renovations to our home and company coming- we had to resort to renting a home for the weekend. Home was at a great location, quite neighborhood and having access to the river would have been a plus, had we had time to access the river. We rent a lot of homes for vacation and we all agreed, this was one of the cleanest dwellings we had spent time in. Kudos to the cleaning company! The only cons I had was the pans were terrible for cooking (all the food would stick and hard to clean), no saran wrap or foil in the home, pillows were flat and beds were tiny. These are things we could live with, but wouldn't hurt to make minor adjustments over time. Plus... need to change the directions. This home is now the third home on the right because a new one is almost complete right beside of it. Overall, we loved the house and would highly recommend it and would stay again, should the need arise!

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay here. As other reviewers have noted, the furniture, linens, decor, etc. aren't particularly stylish or new. However, everything was clean and neat which made for a comfortable stay. Access to Boone / Blowing Rock is easy, and our dogs loved the enormous yard. Overall we were very satisfied.
RELAXING ON THE NEW

It was great to get away from life and just relax - I wish the "fire pit" was just that - we missed it like another reviewer - but saw it before we left - we enjoyed the tubes and the accessibility to the river - for 2 nights was fine, but not sure if I would rent to stay longer - can't beat the proximity to Blowing Rock and Boone
FUN TIME ON THE RIVER!

Great view of the sunsets from the deck of this house. Yard was great for family fun like kickball and frisbee. We really appreciated the space our dogs had to run and play as well. Be mindful of the river access. Although there are makeshift steps, there are also wooden dowels sticking up past the rocks. We appreciated the realtor emailing us to tell us to watch the low water bridge because there was a chance of flash flooding which would have cut off access to and from the house. Thankfully, this wasn't an issue; but I would recommend making it known to potential renters that there is only one access to and from this development. Overall, the house met our needs for a large family with pets. High Country is a wonderful company to work with, very conscientious and caring of their customers! I would recommend them to anyone visiting the High Country!

We enjoyed the our stay at the River House. We celebrated our sons' birthdays with several other teenagers. The boys loved the field for tag football. Great access to the river for tubing and plenty of tubes for all of us. So nice to have firewood and firepit for smores. The upstairs kitchen was stocked well with all necessities and the living area was great for a group of 11. TVs in other areas need to be updated. Plenty of linens for beds but no washcloths and also could use more towels. FYI for other renters: Linens are provided but you do have to make your beds when you arrive. You can only leave two bags of trash at end of stay, if you leave on Sunday and have a big group that is a problem. We could not find place that would allow us to use trash bins. Over all the house was great for our needs with a few updates would be fantastic.

We were evacuating from south Florida for hurricane Irma and we needed a space big enough for the whole family, this was perfect. The property was amazing! Plenty of stuff to do for the whole family. Read the book about the history of the things in the house. We used it as a scavenger hunt with our daughter and she loved it and retold the stories to everyone we met. The neighborhood was perfect and welcoming. We will be renting again this coming summer and inviting family friends. Downstairs is set up like a full apartment so multiple families can come without bothering each other. Field was perfect for family reunion foot ball games or big outside dinners. We loved this house! Thank you so much!

Perfect cabin and location for our family. Located between Boone and West Jefferson, allowing trips to either town if needed. Sounds of the New River and walks along the banks was a much needed escape from our hectic week. Would love to plan a longer stay the next time!
