Grassy Creek, NC - Be prepared for a totally UNFORGETTABLE experience!! With over 300 square feet of windows, the home itself makes you feel like part of the surroundings. Solid cherry paneling, wormy chestnut cabinets, and wooden floors are just the beginning. An inside stairway leads to an enclosed observatory at the top of the dome; a perfectly romantic spot to view the stars above the canopy of trees. A deck surrounds half of the exterior of the dome and offers a nice sitting area for relaxing. Just out the kitchen door, a stone pathway leads to the patio, where swing, picnic table, and hot tub await!! Be sure to take some time to stroll around the property. Unforgettable is a tree-growing plantation as well as a working Frasier Fir Christmas tree farm and wildlife preserve, so numerous trails meander through the wooded and open areas. From the highest peaks, you might even catch a glimpse of Grandfather Mountain if it's a clear day. If not, the panoramic views are well worth the walk, and you're sure to enjoy just sitting by the scenic pond area with a cup of coffee or a good book. If you wish to venture out, the property is in close proximity to several landmarks in the area. The North Fork of the New River and Gale Winston's famous River House Gourmet Restaurant are only a couple of miles away. The confluence of the North and South Forks of the New River is about 6 miles away. Shatley Springs Restaurant is 5.5 miles away, and the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is about 15 miles away via Highway 16N and VA Highway 58. If you're in for a day trip, you'll find directions at the home to Chateau Morrisette (fine dining, deli and winery). Check it out at www.thedogs.com . It is well worth the 1.5 hour drive north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, at Meadows of Dan, VA where you will also enjoy Mabry Mills. Pick up a Parkway Guide so you don't miss all the hidden treasures along the way! If the man is coming to fish, this is definitely THE PLACE. You are only one mile from Helton Creek Trout Stream, which is visited by fishermen from all over. In addition, this air conditioned home provides a fully equipped kitchen, Satellite TV, VCR, AM/FM Radio with C/D player, Washer/Dryer, and charcoal grill. The cabin was cozy, clean, perfectly decorated and contained everything we needed. The hot tub was private and relaxing. The pond contained some nice catch and release bass and the hiking trails were actually manicured. Our dogs enjoyed being off leash to explore. We have stayed in a number of rentals in different locations but this geodesic dome is truly "unforgettable".

This is our 2nd year booking our girls getaway trip...husband and kid free...so peaceful and relaxing! We left one day without securing the lock on the gate completely and when we returned, it was apparent that someone had been on the property because the gate was open and the chain and lock were laying on the ground beside it. So we learned...close and lock the gate EVERY time! I’m sure we’ll be back for year 3!

The accommodation and grounds were beautiful. The place was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed. The hot tub and views were divine. It was wonderful to have hiking trails on site. Our only complaint was that the bedding included sheets that seemed sort of shredded, with big holes everywhere. Not sure what was up with that. Other than that, great stay.

Unforgettable outweighed our expectations. It was nice and secluded. It was so roomie, so clean, and was even decorated for Christmas!!! Love that you can see the stars at night while sleeping. The observation area was a bonus. Loved using the hot tub in the evening after hiking. Very close to a cute winery and family restaurants. You are provided everything you need. We will be back!!!

We loved the seclusion of this property. The lack of phone/cell signal did not bother us since they provide an internet passcode (also it was nice o not be constantly bothered with phone calls). We did not use the hiking trail (we were lazy and enjoyed every minute of it)!
