Property Information
Relax and enjoy the splendor of Rome from this scenic country home just
an hour outside of the Eternal City. Whether you choose to take a 20
minute drive to imperial Tivoli and hop on the commuter rail or park at
the Rebibbia Metro station, 30 minutes away, you’ll be strolling in Rome
within the hour.

Surrounded by nature and total privacy, Villa Gigi sits on the breezy side
of a hill nestled by gardens, terraces, patios, lawns and woods. The views
are lush and green over hill and dale from both the grounds and the pool.
Each level of this two story home opens onto a variety of outdoor spaces
including a large furnished terrace with a built in barbecue and a wood
burning pizza oven.

This masterpiece of stone, beam and tile is, thankfully, not as old as it
looks. The rooms are nicely proportioned and inviting. All of the
bedrooms have screened windows. In addition to a well equipped kitchen,
there’s a barbecue fireplace that’s fit for the medieval cook in your family.

Villa Gigi successfully combines modern comforts with a classy rustic
ambiance and an array of fascinating curios, antiques and stained glass
portals. Maid and meal service may be requested when booking.

A five minute drive leads to the village of Gerano for supplies or to dine in
the outrageously quaint local trattoria. In 20 minutes by car is Tivoli, the
oldest vacation resort in the world. In the midst of its 500 fountains, you
will discover

Hadrian’s villa, Villa d’Este, Villa Gregoriana, temples, waterfalls and
parks galore, not to mention some equally incredible restaurants. Lofty
Subiaco, within a 25 minute drive, is home to the Benedictine order,
ancient libraries, Romanesque churches, Nero’s villa, triumphal arches,
fallen arches (oops) and skiing. In Palestrina, a 40 minute drive is the
Palazzo Colonna Barberini.

This archaeological museum is built upon the site of a 7th century bc
Etruscan town and later on a Roman temple whose massive walls and
terraces scaling the hilltop are still intact. Sulmona and the majesty of the
Maiella mountains are within 45 minutes. Within an hour’s drive from Villa
Gigi are Abruzzo’s capital, L’Aquila, the spas of Fiuggi and of course,
Rome itself.
