Location: Zen House (1200sf) is located up a hidden valley road on a redwood-covered hillside just outside of downtown Guerneville, only a few miles from shopping, dining, nightlife and Johnson's Beach with its shallow swimming lagoon and boat rentals. Two miles to the west, there's Northwood Golf Club and beyond that Monte Rio's charming movie theater.
House: Zen House is a haven of light, lush garden, and Asian art under the redwoods. The kitchen, living room, and dining room are open to each other, and each has open beam ceilings and skylights. The living room is open and airy with upholstered couch and comfy chairs, gas fireplace, and 38" flatscreen Cable TV with DVD. The dining room table seats six and has hardwood flooring. The kitchen has wood floors and cabinets, gas stove, and a picture window looking out onto the terraced hillside garden. There's a bathroom with shower off the living room. This home has wireless high-speed Internet access.
Zen House sleeps six in three bedrooms tastefully decorated to evoke peace and serenity. The master bedroom has a king bed with luxurious linens, ceiling fan, 26" Flat Screen LCD TV w/DVD in Master Bedroom, view of garden and redwoods, and its own entrance to the garden and hot tub. The master bath has a luminous stained glass window, large shower with full-height picture window view of garden, and heat lamp. The other two bedrooms open off the living room. Both have queen beds with beautiful linens and forest views.
Nestled into the hillside, a one-room cottage serves as a meditation/reading room, up a set of steps from the main house. This room has skylights, forest views, comfortable seating, 15" LCD Cable TV with DVD, reading material. The cottage has its own small deck with adirondack chairs, overlooking the main house, hot tub, and main deck.
Grounds: Zen House is situated on a large, corner property in the redwoods with beautiful gardens. In front of the house, the garden is mostly flat and surrounds a large ironwood deck with dining set for six, gas grill, and loungers. To the side and back of the house, paths meander through a terraced, hillside garden filled with flowers, ferns, and Asian sculpture. There are benches and loungers placed throughout the garden for contemplation and meditation. A six-person hot tub sits inbetween the main house and the cottage, just steps from each. At night, lights in the garden create a serene and magical atmosphere.
