Rental Overview
 3 Bedroom(s) 3 Bathroom(s)

Property Information
The cottage will suit the guests who desire peace and a pretty water view, and access to the ocean from the dock or shoreline. For those who enjoy a walk, the Old Bermuda Railway scenic trails runs practically next door. Somerset Village is nearby - a charming hamlet with pretty shops and nice restaurants to enjoy. Beyond the village is the Naval Dockyard with Bermuda's maritime history preserved for your edification and located on a headland with the most extraordinary views of the length of the island. Dockyard also features pretty craft shops and artisans at work, excellent books on the island, pottery etc. and a wide array of pubs, cafes and luxurious carriage trade stores to browse through. The ferry stops here too so you can hop aboard and take a leisurely cruise back into Hamilton with your mopeds in the hold. There are grocery stores nearby, as well as all the usual facilities for sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving, and water skiing, fishing and para-sailing near Somerset Bridge and Ireland Island. Tennis and golf courses are conveniently located as well, and motor-cycles can be delivered right to your front door.

There are a number of large and small hotels in the vicinity with fine dining rooms you can enjoy for that special evening out. All over the island are pretty little cafes where a nice lunch can be had in comfort indoors or out. Small grocery stores are located in every parish, and many of them will deliver groceries as well as beer, wine and spirits: just ask your hostess for the telephone number of the obliging outlet nearby. Other beaches nearby include Somerset Long Bay and the beach at Daniels Head, and then all the fabled beaches of the South Shore starting with Church Bay, Horseshoe and Warwick Long Bay as one progresses through Southampton and Warwick and into Paget, heading towards Hamilton...For dinner or lunch you could consider the walk over to Somerset Village which is approximately 4 kilometers (10 minutes by scooter). The ferry arrives/leaves Somerset Bridge only three times a day, so you need to check the schedule (listed on www.bermudarentals.com ) for times or take the bus as an alternative. The ferry is a very pretty water trip into Hamilton but it operates to serve commuters into town and home again at the end of the day rather than as regular all day transportation. The bus ride to Hamilton takes about 30 minutes during off peak times while the ferry took a little longer since it stops at Rockaway before continuing to Hamilton.
The bus is available to take you into Hamilton or west to Naval Dockyard. At the bottom of the road ( a 5 minute walk at most) you can catch the bus into Hamilton or out to Dockyard and more regular ferry services.

Beach chairs and umbrellas can be rented at Horseshoe beach, which is what everyone locally does.

A Somerset location is considered to be a very attractive option for visitors in the know. Although the locations in the closest proximity to the beaches of the South Shore tend to be in the most demand, the 22 mile length of the island and its width of less than a mile in most places means that access to those beaches is easy from Somerset by bus or by moped and that’s only after you have savored the pretty beaches in the immediate area…. Somerset has the distinct advantage of being close to ferry stops, and a pretty village where shops and cafes makes lingering for a while a very pleasant diversion. The remarkable renovated installation at the Naval Dockyard property (a British Navy base built in the early 1820’s) has created a plaza and shopping concourse as well as a series of excellent museums, pubs, artists workshops, book stores and the like as well as the hugely popular DOLPHIN QUEST operation. These shops and museums operations are all neatly contained in
