 | Property Activities |

There are many things to do for those that like an active vacation. All the normal beach activities (windsurfing, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, etc.) zip- lining, visit the ruins. Cozumel was named one of the top 7 snorkeling places in the world and you can take a ferry to/from there. 5th Avenue is pedestrian only, two miles in length and is full of open air restaurants and air-conditioned stores. Porto Playa Condo/HOtel is located at the halfway mark of 5th Ave. You don't need a car to go anywhere in Playa or Cozumel. If you want to do day trips to Merida or the ruins, you can rent a car or we can arrange a driver for you. Streets in Playa that go North/South are called Avenues, streets that go East/West are called Calles. We are located at 1st Avenue and Calle 16. (There are no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Avenues, it goes from 1st to 5th)
Located in the heart of Playa del Carmen, second floor unit overlooks 2 pools, 2 Jacuzzis and garden sanctuary. Daily maid service. State of the art fitness center available. My husband, Terry, and I have been going to Playa del Carmen since 1993. We've been to beaches all over the world (Australia, France, Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, etc) and this is my favorite beach (I am a beach girl). The beaches in Playa are white, soft sand, no rocks. They are very clean beaches and you can see Cozumel on the horizon. You can walk for miles. Playa has a law that no building near the beach can be taller than 4 stories, so you'll not see any tall buildings which is part of Playa's charm. You can walk north on the beach for at least 10 miles (that's as far as we've ever walked). The water is crystal clear, about 78 degrees. There are numerous restaurants right on the beach and lots of places to get chairs, drinks, etc. You can walk south for about 1 mile.
On the beach: On the beach you can do boogie boards, parasailing, wave runners, etc. Snorkeling and deep sea diving and fishing are very popular. If you want to go snorkeling, I'd take the ferry to Cozumel (rated one of the 7 best in the world) and go snorkeling there. You can also take a tour bus or rent a car once in Playa and go south to ancient mayan ruins or a water park that has snorkeling, tubing in an underground river, and swimming with the dolphins. My son and his girlfriend went zip lining in the area and raved about it. We have noodles in the condo for your use in the Gulf and/or the pool. We were there at the beginning of March and they were having the windsurfing championships, and the waves were higher than normal, but typically the waves are light.
International destination.: Playa is very European - half the tourists are American, the other half are from South America and Europe. It's fun to walk 5th or be eating a meal and hearing all the different accents. Little Italy is full on Italians and is bout 2 blocks away with lots of great places for expresso, cappuchino, gelato etc.
If you want to stock the kitchen and/or cook: We have friends who now live down there and they buy all their food at Wal-Mart. I know how that sounds, but down there it is a beautiful store with the greatest fresh food. We typically walk over there ( about 6 blocks) the first day (in the morning before it gets too hot), and buy fresh fruit, wine and snacks. If you buy a lot, you can take a cab back to the condo for $2.00) We then have breakfast on our balcony. Before dinner we open up a bottle of wine and have drinks and snacks on the balcony. There is another store, Mega, that is the Mexican version of Wal Mart. Located 1 block from Wal Mart
Golf: We are about a 10 minute drive from several top notch golf courses, (i.e. Manikoba) where international golf matches are held.
