Property Information

The views, whether seen from the house or from a slice of heaven modestly called a terrazza, are utterly magnificent. Comacina, right in the middle of Lake Como sits at your feet along with the lake and the mountains surrounding it.

Primo Amore is a spotless and bright two level apartment in a three story home. The main level features a large living area with a double set of glass doors overlooking the lake and opening to a furnished, panoramic terrace. There are comfortable lounge chairs and a sofa at one end, a spacious kitchen area at the other end and a dining table for six in the center.

The two bedrooms on this level, each with its own bathroom, are at opposite ends of the floor. While the bedroom on the lower level is smaller than those above, it does enjoy a separate kitchen area, independent indoor and outdoor access and a living area equipped with a cozy fireplace.

The owner, who lives on the top floor, shares a lower level laundry room equipped with a washing machine. For those with a laptop, a dial-up Internet connection is possible. Firewood is included in the price. Maid service and porter assistance may be arranged when booking.

About 75 steps down from this hillside perch is the main coastal road and an enclosed garage with parking for one car. Additional parking is found within 100 yards along with a fisherman's restaurant. The village center is 300 yards away.

Sala Comacina with ferries to Comacina Island is a five minute drive away, as is Tremezzo. Lenno with a grocery store and the nearest hydrofoil stop is within a 10 minute drive. Bellagio, directly across the lake, is reached in 20 minutes by ferry. Menaggio with the closest bus terminal is 15 minutes by car; Como and its train station: 30; Lugano in nearby Switzerland: 45; Milan: 120.

Ground floor: About 75 steps up from the parking. Entrance into living/dining room with TV, CD player and floor to ceiling windows with glass doors that open onto a furnished, covered patio with panoramic lake views. Kitchen with stove top, oven and fridge. One bedroom with two single, joinable beds. One bedroom with a queen size bed. Two bathrooms each with shower.

Property Activities

Nearest shopping and dining: The center of the village of Ossuccio with restaurants and cafes is within a 300 yard walk. Lenno with a grocery store is within a 10 minute drive. Within a 20 minute drive is Bellagio with a variety of dining and shopping options.

Not to be missed: Bellagio, a 20 minute drive. From April - October, tour the manicured gardens of Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melfi, which also has a collection of Egyptian artifacts.

Varenna, a 35 minute drive, has two beautiful botanical gardens located in Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi.

Public transportation: A bus stop, with service to Bellagio, Como and many other lakeside towns, is within a 15 minute drive to Menaggio. Drive 20 minutes to Bellagio, which is a main stop on both the passenger and car ferries, both run until 7:30 PM. In Bellagio there is also daytime bus service to Como or Lecco, the closest towns with train stations.

Boat Rental: Sail, motor and swan boats are available for rent from June to September in Lezzeno, a 35 minute drive away.

Golf: The Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club's 18 hole course is a 15 minute drive away. Golfers must have their handicap card or club membership card to play.

Outdoor activities: The Bellagio Sporting Club is within a 20 minute drive and offers tennis, a pool and Turkish baths. San Primo Mountain for hiking, walking and mountain biking and winter skiing.

Festivals: In Bellagio, July 26th is the Village Fest, a festival with a market all along the lake.

Outdoor Markets: In Como there is a covered marked every day on Via Sirtori; in Bellagio: on the third Wednesday; Lecco on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and on Sundays in Varenna (this market offers antiques).
