Unlike those tiny Caribbean islands where you can see and do everything in a single afternoon, the Dominican Republic is a rather big island ~ the size of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island combined. It's about five times bigger than Jamaica. It's safe to say you could take years experiencing and exploring everything this island has to offer.
Activities that are a reasonable distance from the villa:

• Deep sea and surf fishing
• Hiking (National Park or mountains)
• Whale watching (in season)
• Caving and cave diving

• Windsurfing (Cabarete, only 45 minutes away, is the windsurfing capital of the America's)

Because of the Playa Grande’s relative remoteness, word hasn't yet spread of its prominence. For now, it’s the Caribbean’s best kept secret, with none of the overcrowding of typical resort courses. In the off-season you don't even need a tee time. As for the beverage cart girls, well, they're around all year long. While at Sunrise Villa, the perfect Caribbean vacation spot, if you ever need a 4th, just ask our manager Chris. He carries an 11-handicap and would love to join you for a match.

The Dominicans love Americans. Our countries enjoy close ties, with over 1 million Dominicans living in the U.S. You’ll be welcomed with friendly, open arms, which may explain why Dominican Republic travel has overtaken Jamaica as the number one destination for Americans visiting the Caribbean.
The Dominican Republic is stable politically, with a representative government. It has enjoyed a GNP growth rate amongst the highest in the Western Hemisphere and the US dollar still goes a long way during Dominican travel. We built our villa here because the Dominican Republic has a low crime rate and it’s especially worth noting that violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. (This isn’t Jamaica, or Washington DC!)
