It is divided into two states, Baja California and Baja California Sur.
Tijuana is one of the most important border cities in Baja California.
You can see various cultural events at the modern Centro Cultural, including the International Dance Festival and the Opera Festival.
Tijuana is also known for its vibrant nightlife, as it has numerous bars, restaurants and nightclubs where you can see live shows.
Los Cabos (The Capes) unites together the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez (also called the Gulf of California).

Central / Gulf
Central Mexico is one of the country’s richest regions in culture and natural beauty.
Its territory extends from the outer limits of a high plateau in the north to the edge of the Sierra Madre range in the south.
In this region, you can visit Mexico City, the nation’s capital.
There you can view the fascinating architecture of the aging buildings in the city’s historic center.
The central region offers the tranquility of its numerous forests, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, springs and caverns, all of which provide ideal settings for rafting, rappelling, cave exploring, scuba diving, camping, rock climbing and nature observing.
San Miguel de Allende is a destination that draws tourists from all over the world due to its important cultural events, such as the Sanmiguelada, which was inspired by Spain’s Pamplona Festival.
The city also hosts world-famous events such as the Chamber Music Festival and the San Miguel Jazz Festival, which features renowned artists.
Mexican Riviera
The Mexican Riviera is the western coastal region of Mexico, including popular cities such as Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, and Mazatlan. Puerto Vallarta is known for its quaint cobblestone streets, old world charm, and thriving nightlife. The walkway along the bay is lined with sculptures, many of which are said to bring good luck to those who touch them. Puerto Vallarta's beaches, especially Playa de los Muertos, are known for great swimming and other water sports. But, it's the jungle beach experience that sets Puerto Vallarta apart from other Mexican Riviera towns. Take a boat trip to Yelapa Beach across the Bay of Banderas, tucked at the base of a jungle-covered mountain. A short hike takes you through lush tropical vegetation to a waterfall. Mazatlan is the largest port on Mexico's Pacific coast. Surfing, sailing and scuba diving are popular activities, and the town is a haven for sports fishing enthusiasts. Stroll along Mazatlan's 10-mile seaside promenade where dozens of merchants sell hand-made jewelry, woven belts and trinkets. More shopping opportunities can be found in town, in an area called the Golden Zone. Make sure to visit the historic old town section of the city, for its cathedral, marketplace and the central square, called Plaza Republica. Try to take one of the open-air taxis, called "pulmonias," up the steep hillsides for a breathtaking panoramic view of Mazatlan's bays and several small islands, and the legendary Sierra Madre mountain range rising behind the town. Acapulco is one Mexico’s most famous beach areas. Among the port city’s many enticing qualities are: its beautiful bay, one of the best in the world; the calm waters of its beaches; and finally, the city’s unbeatable nightlife, which offers one of the hottest playgrounds among Mexican vacation destinations. Acapulco's main attraction by far, though, is the cliff diving at La Quebrada. Throughout the day and early evening, young men make a perfectly timed, breathtaking dive from a steep cliff into a small cove of water below. The assembled crowd gasps and holds its breath until the diver surfaces, then climbs up the steep cliff to do it all over again. If you’re looking for a little excitement of your own, Acapulco offers bungee jumping and parasailing, where you can admire the stunning panoramic views of the bay and the surrounding mountains.
Northern Mexico
The deserts and dunes of Northern Mexico extend across the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Sonora, Durango, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas, where maximum summer temperatures regularly reach the 90ºF range and winter lows drop below freezing.
The western and eastern mountain ranges of the Sierra Madre stretch across the region as well.
Puerto Peñasco is a bay on the northwest coast of the Sea of Cortez, is located in the state of Sonora.
The climate is warm and dry with an average year-round temperature of 68ºF (20ºC).
This destination offers the perfect combination of natural beauty and excellent tourism facilities.
You’ll find vast natural areas like the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve and the Gran Desierto de Altar.
Visitors head to these places to do research on indigenous animal species, while others go to enjoy various outdoor recreational activities, including sand boarding, mountain climbing and hunting.
The bay area also allows tourists to do diverse aquatic sports, such as scuba diving and fishing at such places as Isla San Jorge.
Off the coast of this rocky island you can see a wide array of marine species, including sea lions, dolphins and harbor porpoises.
At night, Puerto Peñasco offers numerous bars and nightclubs where you can enjoy tropical drinks and dancing.
Also located on the Sea of Cortez, the city of San Carlos offers something for everyone. For water sports enthusiasts, there are beautiful sand beaches, spectacular diving and snorkeling, kayaking, and offshore fishing.
The community hosts an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, a bowling alley and numerous gift shops and galleries for shopping and browsing.
For the boater, two marinas are available with paved launch ramps, dry storage facilities, complete marine repair and maintenance services, fuel docks and slip rentals.
Numerous restaurants featuring seafood, Sonoran beef, Mexican dishes and American cuisine are located throughout the town.
Yucatan Peninsula
The Yucatán Peninsula is a region of southeastern Mexico, consisting of the Mexican states of Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo.
Yucatán is home of several famous Mayan archaeological ruins.
The best known and most widely visited by tourists is Chichén Itzá, the site of the Kukulcan Pyramid, the Maya Observatory, and the Sacred Cenote.
A contrasting cultural style can be observed at Mayan sites along the Ruta Puuc.
Located on the eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula, Quintana Roo offers the beautiful waters of the Caribbean Sea, white-sand beaches, marvelous ecological reserves, and ancient Mayan ruins.
The most famous Mayan sites in Quintana Roo are located at Coba and Tulum.
Don’t forget Cancun, a hot spot for tourists which boasts a 19 mile stretch of beaches.
You can do water sports or other activities: snorkeling, scuba diving, parachuting, or you can take a spin on a jet ski.
You’ll also find modern shopping malls, more than 500 restaurants offering the best in national and international cuisine, and numerous bars and discos where the parties rage all night long.
Isla Mujeres, a small island just northeast of Cancun, offers all kinds of tourist attractions, including pre-Hispanic ruins, the remains of an old hacienda and a modern aquatic park where you can go snorkeling among hundreds of colorful fish that inhabit the coral reefs.
Nearby lies Cozumel, Mexico’s largest island. The island is covered with lush jungle vegetation and surrounded by rocky coastlines, white-sand beaches, lagoons and mangroves. You can go kayaking through mangroves and scuba diving along the Great Mayan Reef, the second largest coral reef system in the world. The reef extends all the way to the Bay Islands of Honduras. During your stay, you can also enjoy excellent golf courses, spas, and restaurants serving up a wide array of regional fish and seafood dishes.
