Getting around
Left out the black top driveway, turn left a ½ mile down on RT242 – it’s 5 minutes to Holimont, another 2 minutes to the center of Town, and another 2 minutes to Holiday Valley. But skiing is for just one of our beautiful four seasons around here, this beautiful property caters to ALL FOUR!

Hiking: Dublin Road is just minutes away from Western New York’s best hiking trails. Allegany State Park offers over 80 miles of beautiful hiking trails for all levels of hiker’s from easy to moderate even to some advanced. Allegany State Park (or simply ASP) is approximately a ten minute drive from this location and has plenty of all year round activities which we will mention as we move forward.
Even closer to Dublin Road is Little Rock City State Land which includes much of the area between Ellicottville and Salamanca. This underused area is a hidden gem. Its Limestone Rock formations are as impressive as anywhere else. There area also numerous trails that run through the area including the popular Finger Lakes Trail and the North Country Trail.
If you are able to venture a little further north (approximately 15 -20 minutes drive, Zoar Valley Multi Use Area offers some of the most picturesque views in all of Western New York.
No matter which direction you decide to travel Cattaraugus County is littered with wonderful hiking opportunities.

Mountain Biking: You’re in the heart of Western New York’s Mountain Biking Trails. Whether you want to enjoy ASP’s Ridge Run or nearby Golden Hill State Land or simply head over the hill to McCarty State Land in Ellicottville which boasts wonderful mountain biking opportunities including the popular “Eagle Run”. Even closer (just minutes away) are the freshly made mountain biking trails at Holimont where they will even take you and your bike up the Sunset Chairlift on weekends. Whatever your mountain biking pleasure may be you can get all the areas mountain biking information you desire at the “Bike and Bean Restaurant” in the quaint village of nearby Ellicottville.

Fishing: If fishing is your hobby, Cattaraugus County has in it some of the best trout fishing streams in Western New York. Very close by is the rarely fished Mansfield Creek that has one of the highest populations of Native Trout in WNY. If you want to venture a little further for trout Ischua and Cattaraugus Creek are first class trout fishing destinations as well (both can be fished via Kayak or canoe as well). If your fishing desires are more small boat or shore based there are a plethora of nearby scenic Lakes to choose from including New Albion Lake, Case and Harwood Lake in Franklinville and Red House and Quaker Lakes both located inside beautiful Allegany State Park (kayak rentals available and affordable). All five Lakes are popular ice fishing destinations as well. The Allegany River is also another popular fishery and stretches from Portville in the East End of the County and flows into the Allegany Reservoir to the West. The Allegany River has an assortment of fish ranging from Walleye and Sauger to Paddlefish and everything in between.

Kayaking: The Allegany River is one of the more popular waterways to explore by Kayak. It offers scenic views and carries a steady slow current for a relaxing day on the river. If you are really eager you can Kayak all the way to Onoville Marina located on the Allegany Reservoir which is in South Valley near the Pennsylvania State Line. The Kayak opportunities in Cattaraugus County are plentiful and most of its waterbodies are welcoming to Kayaker’s.

Golfing: Both Elkdale Country Club and Holiday Valley Resorts are a very short drive away. Both are highly regarded courses that many golfers travel from all over to spend the day.

Horseback Riding: Though there are many horseback riding opportunities throughout Cattaraugus County “The Crosspatch” is right around the corner from this location. The Crosspatch offers a variety of opportunities and access to the 12.2 mile multi-use Pat McGee Trail (a “rails to trails” gem that connects Salamanca to Little Valley and the Village of Cattaraugus). The trail was made for hiking, biking, horseback riding and snowmobiling.

Winter Sports: If winter sports are for you then you are obviously in the right place. Located in the heart of “Ski Country” this location is caught in the middle of World Class Snow Ski Resorts (Holiday Valley and Holimont) and World Class Cross Country Ski Area (Art Roscoe cross county ski trails in ASP). Allegany State Park has other Cross County Ski Trails but Art Roscoe is what it is Known for and has approximately 18 miles of groomed X-Country Ski Trails for all levels of skiers from beginners to advanced. There is a warming hut at the summit by the trail heads which offers food and ski rentals along with shelter and warmth. There are even “Snow Shoe Only” trails on the opposite side of Art Roscoe Ski Area.
Snowmobiling is also a popular sport at Allegany State Park as well as the entire Cattaraugus County. In fact this location is only minutes away from the previously mentioned “Pat McGee Trail which is transformed into a groomed snow mobile trail in the winter months. This trail connects snow mobile enthusiasts to any of Western New York’s wonderful snow mobile trails.

Day Trips and Miscellaneous: Located nearby and popular in interest is the Amish Trail of Western New York which encompasses a significant portion of the western part of the county stretching from Randolph in the South to Dayton in the North. Visit the towns of Conewango and Leon and shop for goods that can only be found in this beautiful part of our area. Make your way to the famous Griffis Sculpture Park located just north in the Town of Ashford. Really close by is the newly constructed Seneca Nation Museum right around the corner from the Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino. Rent a Paddleboard on Spruce Lake just a minute away located at the top of Holiday Valley. Visit Rock City in Olean that displays the wonderful and crazy Limestone Rock formations related to the area and be sure to stop at the Beef and Barrel Restaurant for the best “Beef on Weck” sandwich. If you’re here in the spring make sure to visit any number of eateries in the Town of Franklinville for the best Maple Syrup you will ever taste made locally. If you are here in the summer try out the Ropes Course at Holiday Valley. Or if you are here in the Fall make sure to take a ride to Pumpkinville at the end of Sugartown Road or take a chair lift up the Spruce Lift or simply drive around and marvel at the spectacular color display of fall foliage. Just across the border is the area of “Pennsylvania Wilds” where you can visit the Kinzua Bridge State Park and view wild Elk in Benezette.

One could write all day about the endless amount of activities available in the vicinity of this extraordinary location. If there is something we missed I am sure it can be found! Just don’t forget to save time to relax at one of the restaurants and/or spa’s in the wonderfully charming village of Ellicottville before you leave. Let’s Go & enjoy your stay!
