Located a five minute walk from the gentle surf of the South Shore beach known as John Smith's Bay, the apartment offers modern comforts for visitors who want a central location in a quiet family neighborhood.
The Master bedroom has two double beds, and the second bedroom has one Double bed. A cot can be arranged for a small child. The house is air conditioned and has a bath with a shower as well as a bathtub and the other expected amenities. In the living room there is a sofa, chairs and cable television. The phone service requires a calling card for overseas calls. There is also Internet/computer plug- in facilities.
The house is a two story home with the guest facilities on the top floor. There are two private driveways and leisure areas in the gardens to assure both you and the owner have privacy and peace. There is a porch with chairs for relaxing and a deck.
Kitchen facilities include the following:
Fridge,stove,microwave,coffee maker,toaster,iron and ironing board, plus cutlery, dishes and pots and pans are provided. There is fridge freezer. Laundry facilities can be can be arranged for stays of over 7 days.
Smiths Parish is a very desirable location because of the profusion of scenic side trips one can take in the immediate neighborhood. There are several wonderful nature reserves to wander through : Spittal Pond, the Nature Reserve at the Mangrove Lake, Walsingham Nature Reserve and Devils Hole (where you can "catch" fish, eels and turtles on baited lines without hooks). Then there is the 1926 Aquarium in Flatts Village with its collection of pretty shops and cafes, Verdmont Museum (with a splendid collection of antique furniture and children's toys dating from the 1700's) and the Crystal Caves with their limestone stalagmites shimmering in the lights reflected off motionless crystal clear water. There's glass blowing nearby, and the perfume factory- and all the rest of the island to discover by bus or moped.Rates are 200.00 US a night to a maximum of 6 adults.The apt is less than a quarter mile from a bus stop, and also beaches.
The road to and from the bus stop is paved, and has a small hill. We have found that senior citizens can manage the walk as long as they take their time.
The grocery shop is 2 minutes by car/bus and about 20 minutes walking. There is a convenience store within 5 minutes walk.
The nearest organized snorkelling operation would be in Flatts Village which is 1 1/2 miles away. There are snorkeling cruises offered during the season from Hamilton, Dockyard and St. Georges.
