Peaceful...secluded...independent. A unique vacation rental away from home on the Island of Nevis at the heart of the Caribbean.
Come visit this unique and historic island and let the day pass watching the clouds over the sea from your own front porch. The main house is the perfect getaway for a family, the cottage ideal for an individual, couple, or parents with a young child. The gardens invite exploration as the hummingbirds and butterflies flit from flower to flower. Just yards from your front door, a stairway takes you to the black sand beach nestled on the edge of our property.
Our West Indies-style house and cottage are in a secluded part of this out-of-the-way island, which is part of the country of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The house and cottage offer private, contemporary and comfortable living quarters for individuals, couples or small groups. There is plenty of privacy between the two buildings. The cottage has its own hot tub outside, and the house has a swimming pool. The beach at Black Sand Cove is fifty yards from the house and a hundred yards from the cottage. Both houses are oriented to the prevailing breezes coming down off the volcano or off the water. |

Our West Indies-style house and cottage are in a secluded part of this out-of-the-way island, which is part of the country of St. Kitts and Nevis.
On our peaceful corner of the island, you'll hear only the sounds of nature: the wind in the banana trees, the birds, the crickets, and the waves on the shore of the secluded beach. The 360° views provide fabulous sunrises and sunsets, and the passing spectacle of the changing clouds all day long. This is a great place to get away from it all, and relax, write, paint, play music, or just give your mind a rest.
Black Sand Cove is located two miles south of Charlestown. Nevis offers scuba, snorkeling, golf, museums, and great botanical gardens.
Our gardens were designed and planted by Julie Toll, winner of seven Gold Medals at the Chelsea Flower Show in England, including one for her Caribbean-themed garden in May 2003. Julie is known for her use of native species and her naturalized, ecologically-sound designs, and has had her work featured in many garden magazines.

Archeological records indicate that Nevis had a native population going back thousands of years. The Nevis museum displays evidence of this early habitation.
Christopher Columbus passed the island on his second voyage to the Caribbean. Seeing how the cloud-capped peak looked as though topped with snow, he named the island "Nieves" (Spanish for snow), which evolved over time into "(say NEE vis)".
The heart of Nevis history lies in the sugar trade starting in the 1700's and continuing through the mid 1800's. A British colony, Nevis enjoyed a reputation as one of the wealthiest of the new world holdings. This wealth was built on the unrelenting toil of thousands of slaves under the direction of their primarily British overseers. A complex history of battles between the French and English over St. Kitts and Nevis resulted in the British gaining the upper hand, which is why we drive on the left side of the road on Nevis today.
