Tucked into the old town of St. Georges (a UNESCO recognized World Heritage Site) is a comfortable bed and breakfast establishment.The handsome 400 year old house is close to St. Peter's Church, and no more than 3 minutes walk from pubs, shops and grocery and pharmacy facilities.Equipped with two pretty bedrooms, the quaint old house has modern kitchen and bath facilities and will suit guests who yearn for surroundings steeped in history and mere steps to a pretty colourful town,full of interesting things to see and do.The closest beach is Tobacco Bay - about 10 minutes walk, and renowned for its snorkeling attractions. FORT St. CATHERINE BEACH is approximately 15 minutes walk away. Clearwater Beach is a 15 minutes bus or moped ride and is a spectacular stretch of sand and quiet turquoise water. The St. Georges Golf course is virtually next door. If you don't want to rent a scooter, or use a bus pass, there is a mini bus that can be called upon for a small fee .
The old town of St. Georges features many attractions. Every Tuesday night when the cruise ships arrive there are vendors in the Town Square and the shops stay open until 9 pm. There are walking tours daily and a special re-enactment of the old ducking stool - a punishment reserved for nagging or gossiping women from a long time ago! Every street offers wonderful old houses perched right on the road allowance or set deep in lush gardens. Many buildings are old, dating from the 1600's and 1700's.Development in the old town has been restricted so one has the pleasure of savoring an historical setting unmarred by inapporopriate development. The old house you will be staying in has the further distinction of a rare past, having been owned by sea captain turned pirate and a subsequent "ghost" who plays the harpsichord. The current wraith is Burmese cat who lives comfortably in the present and cannot be banished!
There are museums, old government buildings and meeting halls, and handsome forts to explore in St.Georges, as well as the replica of the small ship that rescued the early settlers- this is a particular hit with children, we find...The oldest church in the Western hemisphere is the truly lovely St.peters church with its exceptional timbered interiors, handsome collections of silver and furniture and the graveyard adjacent that holds so many of the island's earliest settlers.
The cottage details include a living room, cooled with a ceiling fan.There is colour TV with two local stations only. There is a CD player and radios in each room. JWe supply iron and ironing board.There is access to a pretty garden and patio.Laundry facilities available at a commercial outlet.
Nearby local restaurants include Pasta-Pasta, San Giorgios, Carriage House, Freddies, Temptations as well as the waterfront cafe. There is also an Internet Cafe on Water Street called Caffe Latte.
The house has telephone service, but ALL overseas calls must have calling card to complete.
