Property Information
The Tannery Guest House is located in the quaint village of Petite Riviere in Lunenburg County on Nova Scotia’s picturesque south shore. Petite Riviere is just 75 minutes from Halifax on the
103 highway or 90 minutes along our famous Lighthouse Route. Founded in 1632 Petite Riviere is a favorite summer destination. It features sandy beaches, an art gallery, antique shops, a winery, a restaurant, a general store, and nearby Rissers Beach Provincial Park. Ideal for vacationing families and only minutes from the beach, The Tannery Guest House allows our guests the privacy to rest, relax, and rejuvenate along with the convenience of going to
town to see and experience all the wonderful sights, sounds, and tastes of Lunenburg County.

The Tannery Guest House was built in 1910 by George Fredrick Hall on Tannery road at the elbow of the small river that runs through Petite Riviere. The house was built on the property of the original tannery that remained in production from the 1860s to the 1940s. The foundation of this original building remains visible
along the banks of the brook that bisects the 3.5 acres of mature trees and gardens surrounding the guest house.

This Victorian farmhouse features 4 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, spacious living room, dining room, and den. From the kitchen sunroom’s breakfast nook you can try to catch a glimpse of the plentiful deer that frequent the guest house property or drink your morning coffee from the hammock strung between two apple trees. The formal dining room boasts a beautiful oak table ideal for hosting
large dinners while the den features a multimedia centre and board games for a fun night inside. The second floor is accessible via the elegant main staircase or the servant’s stairway just off the
kitchen. The main bathroom features a six foot long claw foot tub for relaxing and a separate shower for convenience. From the
bedrooms you can listen to the sounds of the babbling brook as you fall asleep after a day at the beach or curl up with a good book from the library. The living room’s library contains books ranging in interest from local history to art and from gardening to fiction.
