Your primary view looks directly at the British island of Jost Van Dyke across 5 miles of colorful ocean. This Incredible view stretches from lush mountains in the west, past Maho, Cinnamon, and Francis Bays, past Whistling Cay, and Great Thatch Island in the north and on to the emerald hills and a bit of Tortola in the northeast.
Our guests Have use of the private beach at Peter Bay, which is located between the National Park beaches at Trunk and Cinnamon Bays. From Amorosa it’s a 5 - 10 minute walk to the beach, and the calm 82 degree waters provide excellent swimming and good snorkeling. On a perfect beach day the National park beaches will host hundreds of people, but it’s rare to see more than a few people on Peter Bay, for it’s reserved exclusively for Peter Bay owners and guests. If you prefer, it's a 3-minute drive to the National park beaches at Trunk or Cinnamon Bays. The very picturesque drive to the excellent restaurants and beaches at the 5 star Caneel Bay Resort takes 5 minutes. From Caneel it’s another 5 minutes to the excellent restaurants, shops and groceries in the charming town of Cruz Bay.
Amorosa's Flare resignates old world beauty - Pure Elegance of an elegant 18th century Tuscan Villa and was carefully designed to capture the look and feel of the classic villas of Italy. This Incredible Villa incorporates the amenities, appliances and comforts of a modern luxury home with the beauty and elegance of Old World Charm, it’s a lovely blend of two different worlds.
Amorosa consists of two buildings – the main house and the bedroom tower – each with two levels. After passing through the gated entrance, you enter Amorosa on the lower level of the main house which contains the living, dining and kitchen areas, as well as a wine tasting room and a 5th bathroom/powder room. The pool and the sun deck are off the living room, while the lovely wine room, the stone bar and the murmuring stone brook are off the kitchen. Interior mahogany stairs lead up the upper level with a master bedroom/bath and a guest bedroom/bath. There is also a private garden patio and a 6 person hot tub on the upper level.
The bedroom tower contains a bedroom/bath on each level, with the upper bedroom accessed by exterior stairs. All the bedrooms have central a/c, private balconies and wonderful views.
In the living and dining rooms the antique furnishings, marble floors, 12 foot tall wood beamed ceilings, peach Bellagio wall finish, and the 9 foot tall mahogany doors all create a rich, handsome setting that replicates the ageless beauty of ancient Italy. There’s nothing old however about the 46 inch flat screen TV with DVD and surround sound, and the stereo with CD player plus IPod dock.
Four sets of fully screened doors opens to the coral stone decks and an exterior dining table that seats 8 persons. The interior dining room is quite beautiful with an antique wood table that also seats 8. At one end of the dining room a sink (for wine tasting) is cut into a 4 inch marble slab supported by a stone vanity that is flanked by stone arches and lit by hand made copper lights.
This is a kitchen of exceptional beauty and functionality, even when measured against Peter Bay’s lofty standards. The mahogany cabinets were custom built by St. John’s finest craftsmen and custom hand crafted copper lights provide the lighting. The countertops, floors and even the sink are deep veined Italian marble, and the combination of high grade marble and Honduran mahogany is exquisite. The appliances are top shelf, including a Wolf 6-burner gas range and oven, a Thermadore dishwasher, and a Viking Commercial refrigerator and freezer with ice dispenser and water spigot. A microwave oven, blender, and coffeemaker are also included. An arched opening to the living room allows the chef(s) to enjoy a delightful view of Cinnamon Bay from the kitchen.
The climate controlled wine room was completed in 2007, but it looks for all the world like it was built 400 years ago. This room also has a sink resting on a marble slab and stone vanity. The floor is detailed antique brick and the ceiling is dropped slate. This is a beautiful example of timeless architecture, and if you’re a wine or architectural connoisseur, you’ll savor this vintage blend.
The handsome stone and marble bar is just outside the wine tasting room. The bar includes a sink and refrigerator, plus a flat screen TV and music. The back side of the bar is a stone wall with a small waterfall that flows down from the upper level. Beside the bar, a Cal Flame stainless, 4-burner gas grill is built into a marble, stone and antique brick counter. The trickling water sounds, lovely views and antique elegance - plus the grilled mahi-mahi burger and the drink in your hand – all create a very nice effect.
There are two bedrooms on the upper level of the main house, and two more bedrooms in the 2-story tower. All the bedrooms have a king bed and all are similar in size and decor. Each bedroom has a private tiled balcony with romantic water views, and a lovely stone and marble bath and shower. The master bath in the main house has inside and outside showers. Every bedroom is air conditioned, but if you prefer the natural a/c of the gentle trade winds, the Barano doors and windows are fully screened. Each bedroom has an I Home stereo, which combines an IPod docking station with an AM/FM stereo clock radio.
St. John is a lovely and enchanting island that is noted for its unmatched natural beauty, its tranquil peacefulness and its outstanding homes and villas.
Clear, gleaming white sand beaches fringe the many bays scalloped out along St. the Northern shore, and the iridescent water is perfect for swimming.
The climate on St. John is considered to be one of the most ideal in the world with average daily temperatures of 82 degrees and a 5-7 degree variation from winter to summer months. Nights are always comfortably warm, even in winter months, and the air is never humid. Rainfall tends to come at night in brief but sudden showers, and rarely does a storm linger over the island for more than a day.

After studying villa architecture and designs throughout Italy, Amorosa’s owners decided to build an 18th century Italian villa in Peter Bay, and after years of planning and construction, Amorosa was completed in January of 2008. You first glimpse the Mediterranean influence as you drive through the gated entrance and look up at what could be a Tuscan hillside home. But when you step inside Amorosa you see the full range of understated elegance that is the hallmark of a classic Italian villa.
Some of these classic features include; deeply veined Italian marble floors, 4 inch thick marble slabs used for countertops, the abundant use of stonework, antique brick and coral stone, Bellagio finished walls, 9 foot tall Borano mahogany doors, custom built mahogany cabinets, stairs, and windows, arched walls supported by Doric columns, hand built copper lights, and terra cotta Italian roof tiles.
There’s really a lot to enjoy in Amorosa; a summary of its Best Features includes;
the beautiful look and feel of a centuries old, classic Italian villa that has been modernized with a pool and hot tub, plus central a/c, Wifi connectivity and Ipod music throughout the house,
A showcase gourmet kitchen with gorgeous custom mahogany cabinetry, marble floors and countertops and top name appliances such as Viking, Thermadore, and Wolf,
access to the peaceful, quiet and private white sands and turquoise waters of Peter Bay Beach directly below you,
silent and very effective central air conditioning in all rooms,
an Ipod friendly environment with I Home stereos (a small stereo with an IPod dock) in each bedroom, plus the capability to play IPod (or CD) music in the living, dining and kitchen areas, and on the deck or at the pool or bar,
a private 6 person hot tub, plus a pool, both with delightful views of Jost Van Dyke and Cinnamon Bay,
high speed access that is configured for Wifi reception throughout the house,
Other great features include;
An elegant and unique stone and marble bar with a sink and small refrig, exterior speakers, a flat screen TV and a Cal Flame grill. The north wall of the bar is a 15 foot vertical stone brook that - oh so soothingly - flows into a small pond. It’s very Zen.
A murmuring brook, soft music, a beautiful bar – now, how about you on a massage table getting your favorite treatment. Almost all St. John masseuses make house calls, and Amorosa comes equipped with a professional massage table. It’s right there off the bar and we recommend that you give it plenty of use.
A very lovely and traditional, climate controlled 150 bottle wine room (Tuscany is known for its wines), complete with a sink (for wine tasting) and an antique table for glasses and bottles. Salute!
At 7500 sq/ft Amoroso is more mid sized than many of the other Peter Bay homes that we offer. This gives Amoroso a warm and romantic ambiance that makes it (along with Mermaid Falls) a perfect sized luxury home for 1 - 2 couples.
Amorosa will comfortably accommodate 8 persons and the design is well suited for families with children. If you lock off the guest tower and use just the 2-bedroom main house, Amorosa becomes one of our top recommendations for a very romantic, intimate luxury home for honeymooners or lovers.
