Vienna is a city of music, cafee and restaurants, parks, pastries, and wine. Vienna is a true cosmopolitan city, where different tribes, races, and nationalities have for centuries fused their cultural identities to produce the intriguing and often cynical Viennese.
The reign of the Habsburg dynasty, which lasted over 600 years, has left its traces. A wealth of magnificent buildings, museums and art treasures bear witness to the power and wealth of this Emperial dynasty.
The famous writer Karl Kraus said, "The streets of Vienna are paved with culture, in other cities they are paved with asphalt."
The most important attractions and historic sites –the Parliament, the “Hofburg” (Palace of the Austrian Emperor), St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Museums and the Volksgarten are all in walking distance and can easily be reached within 10/15 minutes walk.
The infrastructure is excellent and the comfortable public transport makes sightseeing easy and fast – no need to drive your own car, enjoy the beautiful scenery instead! |
