From a commanding hillside, Villa Minerva offers mesmerizing views over
a spectacle of vineyards, olive groves and wooded hills. The medieval
citadel of Sarteano and the more distant crag of Mount Cetona
dramatically frame this exquisite tableaux. Even Lake Trasimeno, on the
clearest of days, takes its place upon this wondrous canvas.
Set among 50 acres of olive groves, Villa Minerva is under two miles from
either Sarteano or Cetona. This private stone villa with a pool is clearly
well cared for both inside and out. A caretaker and a gardener tend to the
estate on a daily basis.
Three furnished outdoor areas are perfectly positioned to take in the
panoramic views while dining al fresco.
The non-smoking interiors combine archways, terracotta floors and wood
beams with comfortable furnishings and country antiques. An outdoor,
wood burning oven, as well as capacious kitchen with a six burner stove
and two ovens, fuels culinary creativity. All of the windows are screened,
and each bedroom has its own bathroom.
Generously included in the cost are an arrival buffet and a mid week linen
change. Maid service and meals may be arranged when booking.
Cetona and Sarteano, both within a few minutes by car, offer plenty of
dining choices. Ristorante Santa Chiara, at the very summit of Sarteano,
serves the best food you may ever eat in Italy.
Cetona, hideaway home to fashion designers Armani and Valentino, is a
small gem that offers unique shops
and spelunking forays in the nearby Belvedere caves.
Within a 15 minute drive is the entrance to the A1 in Chiusi and your
passport to the rest of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio.
Upper Chiusi, the ancient Etruscan capital offers catacombs and a
fascinating museum. The lower portion of the town has a large
supermarket and a mainline train station with 90 minute service to Rome
or Florence.
Città della Pieve is 25 minutes away by car; San Casciano: 30;
Montepulciano, Orvieto or Pienza: 40; Lake Trasimeno: 50; Montalcino or
Perugia: 60; Siena or Assisi: 80; Florence: 90.

kitchen with six burner stove top, two ovens, microwave, fridge and
dishwasher. Archway to dining room with fireplace and doors to the
outside. Half bath. One bedroom with a queen size bed, door to the

size beds, door to the outside and en suite bathroom with shower.
First floor: One bedroom with a queen size bed, ornamental fireplace and
en suite bathroom with shower. Three bedrooms each with a queen size
bed and en suite bathroom with shower, one has a private terrace.

Shopping and Dining: Within a 10 minute drive in either direction are
medieval Sarteano and Cetona, with shopping for basic needs and several
restaurants. A supermarket can be found in Querce al Pino, a 15 minute
drive.
Not to be missed: Have the caretaker arrange the rental of a vintage
Triumph, Morgan or Alfa Romeo from the 50's and 60's and drive through
the rolling hills of southern Tuscany. Daily rates start at €300 per car.
Public transportation: The closest main train station is in Chiusi, a 15
minute drive with service to Florence and Rome within 90 minutes.
Horseback riding: Within a 15 minute drive. The caretaker can assist with
arrangements.
Tennis: Bagno Santo S.p.a., within a 15 minute drive, is open daily from
April - September.
Open air markets: In Sarteano on Fridays and Città della Pieve on
Saturdays. Sarteano has an antique market on the third Sunday of every
month.
