With the World Cup of Cricket beginning in March (and several games will be played in Trelawny and Kingston), you can bet that Jamaica has been making vast improvements to its infrastructure. The new highway between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios is nearly complete, allowing for faster and safer travel between the two resort areas. More hotels and tourist areas are being built or renovated, and there seems to be a national push to make the island reach its true potential as a traveller's paradise! I think last year's Travel Channel documentary, the media blitz by former PM Patterson last fall, and the upcoming Cricket World Cup have really helped bring Jamaica back into the spotlight as a gorgeous, fun, and relatively inexpensive place to get away.
In the past year, we have made our own improvements to our already-wonderful villa. Recent (in the past 1.5 years)updates include internet, cable TV, more DVD movies, new dining room furniture, new upholstery in living room, more wardrobe space in master bedroom, and more. This past September we added more lounge chairs to the pool area, more color and art on the walls of the villa, new armoires in the master bedroom, and other renovations/additions that improve the overall quality of the unit like more mirrors, more hooks, more kitchen utensils, etc. Not to mention that we have added loads of pertinent and fun info in our "Activity Book". The more often we go there, the more people we meet. Therefore, the more we learn about the island! And not only have WE made improvements on the inside of our villa, the gardener and management have made improvements on the outside as well. We know you will love staying there!
First off, the view from the villa is unbelievable. This picture was taken while sitting on our balcony, yet it looks like a postcard. The villa is set into a hill one mile up from the main part of town (where Turtle beach and the exciting Main Street are), making it a convenient -- yet still private -- place to vacation. We share an inground pool, a gardener, and beautiful landscaping with the 4 other Birdcage villas next to us.
With the rental comes a private housekeeper, a wonderful property manager, and arrangements can even be made for the option of an authentic Jamaican meal (or two or three or daily) prepared just for you by a cook. You will be greeted when you arrive, and your refrigerator can even be stocked with some of your favorite things. How great is it to wake up each day to this view?! And then to spend each day any way you want, without the hustle and bustle of other hotel guests and without the boring rows and rows of identical rooms?!
Great for couples, singles, families, and friends! Fishermen, adventure seekers, relaxers, extroverts, introverts, and everyone else! Spacious and inviting! Tons of closet and cabinet space for you! In town, the beaches are gorgeous, the food is great, the casino is open 24/7, there is Margaritaville and the Hard Rock Cafe and plenty of other fun bars and restaurants, Dunn's River Falls, Dolphin Cove, Sting Rays to swim with at James Bond Beach, Shaw Park Gardens, great golf, fun marketplaces, awesome water sports, tons of excursions to choose from, Bob Marley's house, Fern Gully, and so much more!
The villa itself is very large, with a huge master bedroom and master bathroom; a guest bedroom and guest bathroom; a complete kitchen; a spacious living/dining room area with TV, VCR, DVD, CD player, a large collection of DVD movies (about 200 now!), board games, desk, dining room table for 4-6; a balcony with table and chairs for 4; all the linens you will need for the beach, bed, bath, kitchen, and dining room; air conditioning and fans in the bedrooms; fans in the living/dining room and kitchen.
The master bedroom has a king bed, the guest bedroom has 2 twins (which can be made up as a king), and we have two cots with twin sized mattresses that can be put in the master bedroom or living room. With all the amenities and comfort, you may never want to leave the house! But, in case you do, we've set out a book we've made for our guests with activity suggestions and phone numbers for you.

Rates vary depending on time of year and length of stay. Contact us
for specific info. High Season: US$900/week, Low Season: US$800/week,
Aug and Sept: US$700/week, XMAS week: US$1000/week. The longer you
stay, the better the rate. Prices do not include gratuity for the
housekeeper (which should be 8-15% of rental rate)

Shared Pool: The scenic inground pool is shared by the other 4 "Birdcage" units, although you're likely to have it all to yourself! It's located down a staircase behind the villa and has a beautiful view of the ocean.
Full Kitchen: Kitchen is fully stocked with all the appliances, cookware, and dishware you will need. Stove, oven, fridge, blender, coffeemaker, toaster oven, microwave, and more!

Catering Available: For an additional fee, a guest can hire a cook to prepare one or all of their meals. It's not a gourmet meal, but rather an authentic typical Jamaican meal.
Balcony: Located off the living room, the balcony has a table with 4 chairs and an incredible view of the ocean, beach, and town. It has a roof and it has safety latticework walls (so small children are safe).
Telephone: The phone in the villa can receive incoming calls. Outgoing calls must be local only, unless guest is using a calling card. A cell phone may be rented for a small fee.
Cell Phone: Cell phone is not provided, but can be rented by a guest through the property manager (or the guest can easily rent one at the airport).
Broadband Internet: DSL hookup for any guests that bring a laptop.
