The views from the house are just breathtaking; the sunrise is never to be forgotten. The wind riffles across calm water and fish can been jumping and flitting by, just below the surface. The area is so quiet birds can be heard. The trip to sandy beaches is as close as Hog Bay Park – a 10 minute walk on the South Shore Coast. If you have mopeds or a bus pass, all the great beaches of the South Coast are within a 15-minute ride. The barbecue and the moonrise at the end of the day will be your great reward, once the clouds have lost their colour and the stars have come out. Rent with W41 (2-bedroom) for increased capacity!
A large and comfortable apartment with spacious grounds on the waterfront. On the same property as W41 – adds space for groups travelling together!
The 1 bedroom apartment comprises of 1 King Bed, a Sleep Sofa (Queen) and a fold away cot. (4 Persons Max).
There is a separate private bathroom in this spacious apartment. Living room is sunken (4 steps down), bedroom 1 step down, all other rooms are on same level. Full sized kitchen with formal dining room and living room, plus laundry room.
An extra inflatable mattress can be made available upon request.
This unit has access to wireless internet, cable TV and a DVD player. Microwave oven in the kitchen. The apartment is air conditioned and comes with a full bath, hair dryer, iron, and an ironing board. No pets on the premises please. Charcoal barbecue and outdoor furniture including table and chairs, and umbrella. In the winter, the unit has space heaters for your comfort.
Telephone service available: BERMUDA calling card for overseas calls is required. Swimming from the front of the property is good but guests must be careful as the rocks can be sharp. Swimming shoes are a must for all ages.
The bus stop is just at the end of the road from the apartment – two stops going west and two going east. There is a grocery store nearby, as well as all the usual facilities for sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and water skiing, fishing and para-sailing near Somerset Bridge and Ireland Island. Tennis and golf courses (Port Royal and Riddell’s Bay, as well as the Southampton Princess) are conveniently located as well, and motor cycles can be delivered right to your front door. The Dockyard Ferry is a 20 minute ride away, and another 20 minutes by ferry to Hamilton. By moped, Hamilton is approximately 25 minutes away.
There are 2 bus stops near this rental unit which go eastward for travel toward the Beaches and Hamilton, which are 5 and 8 minutes away respectively. (Normal walking)
The other bus stop, which is for westward travel, is about 6 minutes away and located on the opposite side of the street.
There is also a free shuttle service to the fast ferry during the morning busy period only. This shuttle can be caught from the eastward bus stop.
Last bus leaves Hamilton at midnight: schedules available online and upon arrival.
The nearby grocery store is The MaxiMart, a full sized grocery store that also sells alcoholic beverages and has an ATM just outside.
The property faces the Great Sound and has a spectacular view with ready access to swimming from the front of the property. The bus will take you to Horseshoe Bay in just a few minutes, if you don’t rent mopeds to get around.
The apartment will suit guests who desire peace and tranquility above all else. For those who enjoy a walk, there are the Old Bermuda Railway scenic trails from Somerset Bridge – about ten minutes from the cottage. The Trail is famous because vehicular traffic is not permitted: just hikers, cyclists and mopeds. The vista provides a unique glimpse at some of Bermuda’s oldest homes and loveliest estates. Somerset Village is nearby – a charming hamlet with pretty shops and nice restaurants to enjoy.
Beyond the village is the Naval Dockyard with Bermuda’s maritime history preserved for you to happily explore. The acres of buildings and parkland is located on a headland with the most extraordinary views of the length of the island. Dockyard also features pretty craft shops and artisans at work, excellent locally produced books and pottery etc. and a wide array of pubs, cafes and luxurious carriage trade stores to browse through. The ferry stops here as well, so you can hop aboard and take a leisurely cruise into Hamilton with your mopeds in the hold.
