E05A: St Georges Town St Georges Parish Vacation Apartment for Rent
One bedroom apartment near Bailey’s Bay with water access
Vacation Apartment in
St Georges Town St Georges Parish
||1 Bedroom • Sleeps 4
||1 Full Bathroom
Our comfortable one bedroom apartment with full kitchen and one bathroom suits two guests, or a family of 4, and is on a property which enjoys access to the North Shore ocean.
Recently redecorated, this apartment is on the same waterfront property as E05, with swimming access in the North shore coast waters, which are clear and calm - ideal for snorkeling!
The air conditioned apartment has one bedroom with King size bed, as well as two full-size futons in the living room. A single cot or single air mattress can also be made available with advance notice, at an additional cost per night. For your comfort, the apartment also has heating, and ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with full-size fridge, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, pots and pans, cooking utensils, salt and pepper, and a basic supply of paper towel and dish washing soap. Enjoy your home-cooked meals at the indoor dining table for 6, or sit on the patio with a table and chairs for 4 and soak in the ocean views.
The apartment also includes: TV with cable, wireless internet and a PC, a phone available for local calls, iron, ironing board, blow dryer, and laundry machines. The one bathroom has a sink, toilet, and shower/tub. Bath linens are included, but please bring your own beach towels.
Since the one bedroom apartment has two floors as well as waterfront access, toddlers and children need to be closely supervised.
The grassy patio (shared with guests of E05) enjoys spectacular views of the ocean and its glassy, turquoise waters. There is a charcoal BBQ available for guest use, as well as two patio chairs for lounging although there are a total of 8 chairs supplied for guests of both units. Instead of travelling to the beach, one can also swim and snorkel from the property! The ocean is accessed by concrete steps, so water shoes or good balance are a good idea.
The property overhangs conservation areas which are part of the Railway Trail System of public parklands. The Parks Dept. places severe restrictions on what the abutting homeowners can build, to protect rare and native species, water run-off management and habitat. Access to the waterfront is down the side of the property on steps that are cut out of the natural landscape; some guests may find them a bit preciptious especially after a rain. However, there are many other access points to the railway trail along this stretch of coastline and to miss the walk would be a great shame as swimming and snorkelling in the relatively calm water from the dock is a pleasure not to be missed.
Activities and Special Interests
There is a pretty good restaurant next door called Landfall that offers dine in or take out options, The bus stop going on both directions is right outside the driveway of the house. The bus runs every 15 minutes on weekdays and 30 minutes on weekends. You don’t need to check the schedule, you can just go outside and wait for the bus, it’ll come in a few minutes!
Shelly Bay marketplace is a 15 minute walk away, where you can also purchase bus tickets. All you need access to for your vacation is within walking distance of this location: Post office, groceries, liquor, churches. One of the best kept secrets in all of Bermuda, Shelly Bay Beach, is less than 5 minutes away by bus – literally 3 stops on the bus. It’s never crowded, it has trees to cover oneself from the sun if needed, and due to the fact that it’s on a bay the water is very calm, making it very safe for swimming and snorkelling.
All that you need access for your vacation is within walking distance of this location: Post office, groceries, liquor, churches, restaurant, bus.
The property is only 20 minutes to Hamilton and 10 minutes from the airport in St. George’s.
Private access to the railway walking trail for walking or jogging.
Mopeds can be rented from a shop called ‘Wheels’. Shopping in the neighbourhood includes a supermarket at the Shelly Bay Plaza and a small convenience store at the gas station at the end of Radnor Road. One half mile away there is another convenience store open until midnight. Grocery stores also sell liquor, wines and beer. Dry cleaners, a pizza parlor and a Post Office are nearby. Flatts Village is ten minutes away by bus (and is delightful village) with nice places to eat (Indigo Restaurant which offers international food and Rustico which serves Italian cuisine), gift and other shops, and the Aquarium and Zoo which are well worth a visit. Sports activities include tennis courts (which can be booked at reasonable rates) at Grotto Bay, which is five minutes away by bus.
Hiking is enjoyable at Ferry Reach and St. Davids Head, two of the larger and more interesting parks. There is also Spittal Pond Bird Sanctuary and endless coastline areas to walk. Swimming and snorkelling are good on most beaches. However, Shelly Bay Beach five minutes from “The Bed and Breakfast”, is very safe, never has an undertow (as do many of the more turbulent South Shore beaches) and the caves around the headland offer excellent snorkelling. Tobacco Bay in St. Georges is a great beach year round – sheltered and with marvellous numbers of fish. Diving, sailing and windsurfing are all available at Grotto Bay which is nearby.
