Welcome to Once Upon a Tide. Enjoy the sunsets on your own back porch. This 4 bedroom/3.5 bath home is located in Killegray, on the dune Ridge. The main house has 3 bedrooms located downstairs. The first bedroom has a queen-sized master suite. The second bedroom has a king-size bed, while the third bedroom has two twin beds. The two bedrooms are connected by a bathroom located in the hallway. The view is the main attraction upstairs! The 2nd floor is home to the main living area, the kitchen, dining room and half bathroom. The living room has a balcony that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. If you want to enjoy a quiet coffee, we also have a screen-porch downstairs. The crofter has a separate master room and bathroom with a Queen bed.
We cannot guarantee that the ice maker or water dispenser will be operational in the rental.

5 Star Accommodation & Service!by Christina on 06/04/2022
6 people, 3 couples, stayed in this beautiful home for Memorial Day weekend. The view is truly amazing; the house sits up on a hill and the view easily cascades over the other beachfront houses. The house would comfortably sleep 8 people. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, including a blender. There is a large kitchen table that seats 8 people. We did have some squeezing to fit everyone on the sofas but no big deal! The two golf carts are a little bit older but they get the job done! It's about a one minute golf cart ride to the closest beach access and around a 3 minute walk to the water from there. Also, on the right side of the behind the garbage is an outdoor shower that we didn't discover until our stay was over! During our first night we preheated the oven to cook some salmon and it started smoking. Set the fire alarm off, the house alarm, and alerted the local fire authorities. We left a message on the after hour emergency number reporting the previous guest left a grease buildup on the bottom of the stove. The next morning we had a text saying they will come clean the stove. They were there before noon and the stove was spic and span in no time. We also had a flat on one of the golf carts. They fixed the flat in about an hour and a half and texted when the job was done. Although we had a few hiccups, our stay was still great! Thank you BHI services for taking care of us!
Great Sunsets at Once Upon A Tide

This home has everything you need to enjoy some of the best sunsets on the island. Sitting on a high dune it also has great views of the ocean. Quite neighbors who are very nice. It is definitely a return to home for us! Crofter is a great place for the kids to bunk down or also for adults. We loved our stay at Once Upon A Tide.

View was wonderful. The location was great. Central location so nice access to either end of the island. We have been going to BHI for the last 6-7 years every year and this was likely our favorite cabin.

We have stayed on bald head in many different areas of the island, and this was by far our favorite location. It's up on a rise in the land, so you have a great view of the ocean, and no mosquitoes.The beach is the equivalent of a block away (beach access #32, you can park your golf cart if carrying a lot of stuff.) To characterize this home compared to other BHI homes, understand that it isn't one of the giant mega homes, it's a duplex in a lovely enclave of two tidy cul-de-sacs, but it was a great choice for our family. We are a family of four, and our teens brought three friends along. (I would say that was the most you would want.) Having two golf carts and a extra bedroom in the crofter above the garage worked well; the teens watched TV in the crofter when they wanted some space. The house itself is solidly built— not creaky like other beach houses! There's good insulation and we slept well. The modestly-sized kitchen was well outfitted with plates, glasses, bakeware, and cookware, though it lacked casserole dishes (FYI, they also need a lot more forks!) We appreciated the big wooden dining table with eight chairs. (Note: The fridge and dishwasher were showing their age, but did the job.) A lot of rentals don't offer shoals club access, but this does, and we were glad we tried that. Shoals Club is right at frying pan shoals, less than a mile from the house, so you can eat a tasty lunch, swim at the pool, and then go out to the beach for a few hours all in the same place. Your membership comes with the Option to use their beach chairs and umbrellas (they set up for you, you tip!). It was worth paying a small tip to not have to lug our chairs and tent everywhere. As a sidenote, the rental agency can't guarantee it, but while we were there the house did have probably eight beach towels, four beach chairs, one skim board and one little kids boogie board. Also a functional one-gear bike and a TON of beach toys like shovels and pails and frisbee. On the one afternoon it rained we were thrilled to discover Netflix already set up on the Roku TV, also able to sign into our own Prime account. (I think Hulu was also available.) Overall, this isn't a house big enough for entertaining in any significant way, but it was a perfect base of operations for a family on the go. Can't wait to go back!
